My DH likes Joni Mitchell

Some of her songs break my heart. He thinks they are romantic. And positive. Am I thinking too hard about the lyrics and music? I'm off to bed but I will catch up tomorrow.

Joni Mitchell is awesome - her lyrics are unbelievable - the poetry is fantastic! Blue is easily one of the best albums ever recorded IMHO.

I sing Little Green as a lullaby to my DD as the tune is so lovely but it's actually a really tragic song about how she gave up her daughter for adoption Sad

"Child with a child pretending
Weary of lies you are sending home
So you sign all the papers in the family name
You're sad and you're sorry, but you're not ashamed
Little green, have a happy ending"

A bit melancholy but beautiful nonetheless - I'd say your husband has fine taste!

I love Joni Mitchell. Sometimes I just want mellow depressing songs. I don't like upbeat songs all the time. I like music which suits my mood and sometimes my mood isn't upbeat and cheery. IMO her lyrics are beautiful.

Lovely voice. DH bought a boxed set of her albums and we listened to them on an immense Australian drive. But the lyrics.

She used to live with Graham Nash and he wrote "Our house" for her. Not the Madness song.
