I'm in the USA at the moment and whilst switching channels noticed Sesame Street was on so settled down for a watch with my ds1.

I'd forgotten how brilliant it is, why did they take off the tv?

Anyone else used to love watching Sesame Street or am I the only sad bastard on here?

Sunny days, sweeping the clouds away... Grin

The count is my fave.
I wanted to marry him when I was a kid :)

It was brilliant! I was terrified of the typewriter though. "Noony noony noony noony"

Was Thatcher to blame for it being stopped as well?

Steppemum Shock I'm not convinced that Sesame Street stops children from reading and writing. I watch it and I think I'm fairly literate. I can even read! Grin

I agree.. loved it and had many many hours taped for DS2, who is autistic with learning diffs..but learned to count and recognise his colours via Sesame Street.

I can also count in spanish thanks to SS too Grin

Steppemum SS was all I watched growing up (and Mr. Rogers) and I became obsessed with books as a girl and then went on to University to study literature!

I bought the DVDs of the old Sesame Streets for dd. She loves them.

The Count remains the best ever puppet. I love him Grin.

LimitedEditionLady · 17/04/2013 18:20

It used to be n C4 but they axed it in favour of The Hoobs which is crap. It's ridiculous that you can buy toy Elmo's and Cookie Monsters in the UK but can't fucking watch Sesame Street here!!!!

Fakebook · 17/04/2013 18:36

It used to be on Channel 4 at 12pm I think...right after You and Me...my Mum used to do the washing up at the same time everyday when I sat and watched TV!
