AIBU to be offended by this Moonpig card?

Maybe I am being a bit sensitive but I really don't think it's amusing and wonder if it would be ok for someone to actually say the phrase. I don't think this is a trigger but am aware that it could upset some people and I don't want to do that.

Its the card in the bottom left corner.

why did anyone think that was funny enough to sell?

Bloody odd some people

I hate moonpig for the adverts alone

Feminine · 17/04/2013 14:03

throdora because they couldn't exactly come up to you with all that dialogue.

The bitch bit maybe, then they would look even more of an ass!

MandragoraWurzelstock · 17/04/2013 14:04

also the phrase at the top could have been perceived as a clever play on words, I suppose (clutching at straws) but the bit at the bottom, where it asserts that 'bitches love cock', is for what? Just in case we didn't 'get' it?

theodorakisses · 17/04/2013 14:04

I get you now.

MandragoraWurzelstock · 17/04/2013 14:05

perceived by the stupid, I should have said. No one normal would find that funny, would they?

TheChaoGoesMu · 17/04/2013 14:05

Gross.

squeakytoy · 17/04/2013 14:06

surely you would only buy an offensive card for someone who you know would appreciate the humour in it though..

I have some friends who would laugh at that, and others who would find it distasteful.

NewStartInSpring · 17/04/2013 14:06

I think there are worse things in the world to be offended by. So YABU and a bit of pearl clutcher.

Remember those t-shirts on Amazon? Now that I could see being offended by.

Feminine · 17/04/2013 14:08

Anyway theodora I agree with you.
:)

SPsYoniTheOneAndOnly · 17/04/2013 14:08

I am only offended by one thing. That is the Peter Andre and Katie Price cover of Aladdin's 'A whole new world'. Now that's offensive

theodorakisses · 17/04/2013 14:08

I don't normally get offended or pearl clutch

OP posts:
ItsYoniYappy · 17/04/2013 14:16

It would depend who was calling me a bitch so... it's not offensive depending on who sent me it. I would be more offended at a 75p one with flowers or a tree picture tbh, the card you link to shows thought

PimpMyHippo · 17/04/2013 14:18

I think there's a sort of meme around that phrase though - I've seen a few "funny" (Hmm) pictures on the Internet captioned with 'bitches love...' whatever. I don't really get why they're meant to be funny, like with all memes I think it's been repeated so many times that people now think that just using the same format will make something automatically hilarious. I still find the word bitch really unpleasant, but I think its use on the card was referring to this lame meme rather than just a random observation iykwim.

Pickles101 · 17/04/2013 14:25

There is, Pimp, but it's not a very popular one and seems only to be dug up by small and/or immature boys.

Fakebook · 17/04/2013 14:35

Yanbu. Who the hell would find something like this funny? There's a child in the bloody picture with sexual references to "cocks" and "bitches". Hilarious. Hmm

onthemetro · 17/04/2013 14:45

It is a meme - knowyourmeme.com/memes/bitches-love-x

That card is pretty horrendous though

Chocoflump · 17/04/2013 14:56

Don't find it funny at all. The use of that language and what it's referring to should not be on a greetings card at all, never mind one with a picture of a child.

Is it possible to complain to moon pig about this?

theodorakisses · 17/04/2013 17:02

So bitch has been reclaimed, hmmm, can think of some previous posters about other insulting names that "apparently ok if a person is using it inthis way", I still think they are racist. So it's ok if I call my female friend a bitch instead of a woman because it's funny in an "ironic and modern sense".

Really not a pearl clutcher though, have been in a few nasty scrapes with aggressive drunk men and maybe that's making me more sensitive. It's AIBU and everyone is entitled to their opinion.

valiumredhead · 17/04/2013 17:05

I find bitch more offensive than cunt tbh.

ouryve · 17/04/2013 17:08

It really is not funny. There's plenty of ways of making a big cock joke without involving children (which is vile) or sexist language (being a meme doesn't make it OK).

theodorakisses · 17/04/2013 17:09

so do I, it's a good strong word that you can use to insult anyone or anything, whether man, woman dog or the thing you stubbed your toe on.

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 17/04/2013 17:09

Someone explain what a meme is please?

theodorakisses · 17/04/2013 17:10

I mean cunt is a good multi purpose word, not bitch valium

OP posts:
ouryve · 17/04/2013 17:11

I've tweeted this thread to @MoonpigUK

Tee2072 · 17/04/2013 17:12

It's not funny but I don't find it offensive.
