I am watching his show at the moment and I am stabby!! For petes sake get a move on. It's like watching a grandad sloth lumbering around the kitchen. The way he reverently handles his organic butter made from the pure unpasteurised milk of a yak in Tibet wrapped in hand made brown paper!! Aaaaaaah! The length of time it takes him to get the sodding fork to his mouth' it's a wonder he hasn't died of starvation.

As you were Grin

Who annoys you on telly?

I like him. But I agree with everything thats been said. Its part of the joy of watching him for me. Getting irate.

The cheesy apple crumble looks great, going to try that with a strong cheddar.

Flojobunny · 13/04/2013 19:21

Aww I luff him

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/04/2013 19:47

No LaQueen. They are designed to be eaten by one bearded and slightly dirty looking man in a cardigan in Marylebone, plus (probably) a young bearded guy in biker leathers.

WireCatWhore · 13/04/2013 19:52

I love him, you bunch of mad vipers! Wink

Iaintdunnuffink · 13/04/2013 19:56

Yanbu

I can't stand the way he puts the food on plates, so deliberate and loving. When he puts food into his mouth it makes me feel a little ill, then I'm very bored with seeing any chef taste their food on tv.

peedoffbird · 13/04/2013 20:18

As my dm would say "I'm sure he's a very nice person dear"!

But his face is slipping and sliding downhill when he eats so I don't care if he's a nice person cos I can't stand looking at his gob.

Must go and lie down.

I love this thread. I want to live here. Never knew so many people felt like me about this. Can we all make a home together?

Can't stand any of the NS oevre. All that assumed matey-ness and adjectival overload. Eughgh!

Katisha · 13/04/2013 20:34

the kitchen you see on the telly - it's not his... They filmed the last series round our way. Though not in our kitchen...

iklboo · 13/04/2013 20:36

It's the 'make friends with your butcher / green grocer / fishmonger / artisan baker' that gets on my wick. If I don't count the supermarket (where the staff rotate quicker than a Mumbai ceiling fan), our nearest of those is about 15 miles away. On 3 buses because there's no direct route.

Katisha · 13/04/2013 20:37

Although I think they often do film at his own house.

peedoffbird · 13/04/2013 20:41

Oh that kitchen is very him though. Not fitted of course because that's so passe dahling. Eclectic mix of unmatching cupboards is so now!

Hello everyone! < waves>

You have all said mostly what I would have said about NS. He also once said something horrible about Wagon Wheels which I love.

He does write well but is horribly annoying on telly. The snobbishness about supermarkets makes me want to throw things at him, and who has the time to wander round markets and independent food shops every day?

My lot decimate a roast chicken within about 10 minutes, I have never had roast chicken leftovers ever!

silverbaubles33 · 13/04/2013 21:04

No, Remus, eaten by one shuffly, unwashed, dribbly-lipped picker-of-one-perfect-leaf-of-marjoram then hand-fed to the seven young leather-panted dudes he's got manacled behind the folding Mouse's Back pantry doors.

FlowersBlown · 13/04/2013 21:04

The recipes in Appetite are good, but the premise of the book is ridiculous. Apparently every day you should just decide what you feel like eating, then go and buy it from an artisanal supplier before knocking it up for supper. There are so many flaws with this plan that I hardly know where to start. I'm at work all day Nigel. And I have a budget to stick to that doesn't involve eating a whole sea bass every time I feel like it.

ELR · 13/04/2013 21:06

Very entertaining reading! Laughing my head off DH keeps asking what I'm laughing at!
Love Nigel, have read and watched everything he has done but can't disagree with anything that has been said.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/04/2013 21:09

Seven? What, like Snow White?

NotTreadingGrapes · 13/04/2013 21:11

More like 7 where Gwynnie's head ended up in a shoebox I'd have thought.

Yes, seven. One for ssssssuper

every

night of the

week.

He writes like he'd lick the sauce dribbling down your forearm.

IRL, he'd be hovering with a spat-on Kleenex and the dishwasher gaping.

Passmethecrisps · 13/04/2013 21:19

I go shopping every single day. Because I have a small baby and it gets me out of the house. Sainbos counts as artisanal, yes?

The other thing that pisses me off about him is that the portion sizes are tiny. Two prawns and a chilli seed does not a meal make.

Passmethecrisps · 13/04/2013 21:20

silver that made me laugh so much I choked

Bearbehind · 13/04/2013 21:22

I like his cooking but he is a proper worry - would you let him babysit your children........?????

poppycock6 · 13/04/2013 21:23

Love his recipes. I feel a bit sorry for him - dunno but he seems a bit troubled Sad

silverbaubles33 · 13/04/2013 21:25

*sssssupper. Obvs.

Oh and laQueen, that's exactly how I imagined you'd shop. In floaty putty-hued linen layers. On a Pashley.

It's all spoiled now.
