I'm a new poster although I've lurked for a good while. So what are the loathed topics that keep resurfacing time and time again? Or ones that get on everyone's tits?

[braces self for this would probably be one of those threads] Grin

OP posts:
Gerrof · 10/04/2013 13:41

That said, I have a great big long list of topics which I find tiresome.

elliejjtiny · 10/04/2013 13:44

Threads where it gets all interesting and then the OP doesn't come back

SS took my children for no reason at all. 3 pages later the OP admits that she had been in a fight, police were called etc etc but that had nothing to do with it Hmm

I saw a child being given a fruitshoot/greggs sausage roll/crisps

I took my 10 year old to mcdonalds for the first time and he/she said he/she didn't like it and would rather eat something organic.

My inlaws gave my DC's some chocolate, AIBU to kill them?

I've just had a baby, my mum was at the birth and will be moving into our spare room. AIBU not to let PIL visit for 5 years?

Anything to do with weddings

Losingexcessweight · 10/04/2013 13:58

What i ve found is:

Step mothers regarding their step children
Dh/dp cheating
Parking
Bf/ff
Ex partners being a pain
Csa

The list is endless

exoticfruits · 10/04/2013 13:58

Anything with swearing in the title.
Anything that starts 'tell me....' as if we are the court jester.
Anything that gives a label to things that have been done for donkey's years and are reinvented as in BLW and 'wearing' your baby.
Anything that starts 'who is your favourite poster?' or 'which poster can't you stand?-anywhere else it would be called bullying.
The umpteen ones at the moment about FB -get off it-unfriend them-hide them!!!
Anything to do with strangers touching babies (they are always 'dirty' strangers)
Anything that calls any woman over 60 an 'old' bat or 'old' biddy or assumes they can't cope with a toddler for a few hours.
Anything over controlling where the message to the DC is 'the world is a dangerous place without mummy glued to you'
Those that over analyse a simple, off the cuff remark.
I could go and on but have to go out!

arabesque · 10/04/2013 13:59

'Bridezillas' who have the cheek to not want/be unable to afford to invite everyone's children to their wedding.

Ridiculous complaints about MILs wanting to hold the new baby or buy their grandchildren a nice birthday present.

LadyBeagleEyes · 10/04/2013 14:03

I've actually nothing against the BF/FF ones as long as they're on THEIR OWN TOPIC which MN has kindly provided for them.
They're is no need for them to encroach onto Chat or AIBU.

YouTheCat · 10/04/2013 14:04

I can't think of anything!

There are some titles where I'll be certain how things will go on the thread because of the subject matter - but I click anyway and am sometimes surprised. Grin

Binkybix · 10/04/2013 14:07

No subject as such because you don't have to click on them, unless the title is poorly worded. So poorly worded titles are my pet peeve!

arabesque · 10/04/2013 14:08

The SUV ones usually go a bit mental after a while so unless you're in the whole of your health I would avoid them.

I also hate the precious 'a little boy wouldn't give DS a go on the train at nursery today and his mum said nothing' ones. Yeah, yeah, whatever.

The "am I pregnant?" ones drive me loopy. Next time, I see one, I might pop in and say "that's exactly how my auntie Judy felt before she found out she was pregnant with sextuplets, one of which came out looking rather like the nextdoor neighbour's puppy".

sosooootired · 10/04/2013 14:12

I don't like the first sentence where people introduce themselves as a namechanger - don't know why always irks me

crashdoll · 10/04/2013 14:12

Oh and also "come and hold my hand" threads for things like waiting to hear if your window cleaner is coming or not.

crashdoll · 10/04/2013 14:13

"like where the OP saw a toddler eating a cookie the size of her head"

Now, I want a giant cookie again! Angry That was a great thread.

arabesque · 10/04/2013 14:16

Threads that talk about 'mummy friends',
or give earnest, scientific terms to things parents have been doing for generations: et 'BLW', 'Controlled Crying'.

Binkybix · 10/04/2013 14:16

I want a giant smarties cookie!

LadyBeagleEyes · 10/04/2013 14:17

Yes 'namechanger here, pom bears, cubes of poo whatever...'
I immediately think troll.

arabesque · 10/04/2013 14:19

I also rarely open threads asking posters how often they change the sheets, hoover the sitting room, clean the toilet etc etc etc

hurricanewyn · 10/04/2013 14:24

The same ones that come up at certain times of the year

Why are people doing Hallowe'en - rant about Americanisms being imported, greedy grabby kids etc

How lazy do you have to be to buy pancake mix/ready made pancakes instead of making them

Valentines day is a load of shite/hallmark holiday

etc etc

hurricanewyn · 10/04/2013 14:26

What does everyone else do with their pubic hair - I don't know about anyone else but I don't care about what other women have in their knickers

RobotLover68 · 10/04/2013 14:28

Anyone that adds "discuss" at the end of the thread

Oh do fuck off dear

MissyMooandherBeaverofSteel · 10/04/2013 14:29

I also hate any thread that makes a statement and then says 'Discuss' Angry it reminds me of being at school. And I get irritated by threads written 'by a child' - AIBU to throw sandwiches at my mummy - and the like.
