To be annoyed at people with no children taking up the mother and baby spaces

I popped to the local supermarket this morning to do a small shop with my DS2 (19 months). I was just about to park in a mum and baby space when some arsehole in a fiesta came around the opposite way and took it.

The bastard was on his own with no children or any sign of car seats. It may sound petty but it really winds me up when people do it - including friends of mine.

One friend often goes off shopping with a 21-year-old daughter and parks in them. Her reasoning is that her 21-year-old is and always will be her 'baby' so she has every right to use it.

I suggest you search "parent and child parking" on here and you will get hundreds of threads giving uour answer.

Best don your hard hat OP, mother and baby parking threads tend to turn into bun fights along the lines of;

A. In my day, I hiked 5 miles with 6 babies from the back of the car park, you're being unreasonable and lazy as it won't kill you to walk further.

B. You don't need that much space, if you think you do, you're clearly crap, stupid or inept.

C. I can park my car in a normal space and squeeze round everything, why would you expect people to be inconvenienced for your child. You chose to have them.

Yawn....... From my point of view YANBU, people who park in them, without small children, are selfish ignorant arses.

Cuddly, I've no problem with walking the extra if they're full :). It just winds me up when people take them up knowing their for parent and child. I have the same peeve for the disabled bays too. They're marked for a reason.

How do you know he wasn't meeting his partner who had kids with them?

You don't know if they are picking children up though. At the weekend I was out shopping with DH and DD and we bought something large which meant we had to fold the backseat down to fit it in so I took DD to sainsburys cafe for a bit of lunch while DH took the large item home and came back for us. We had put DDs carseat in the front passenger seat while the backseat was folded down but before coming back DH put it back in the backseat and the back windows are tinted so you would have to peer in quite closely to see there was a child seat in there. DH had no child when he arrived at sainsburys and parked in p & c but he did have one when we left.

There a courtesy, extended to those with children, it will make their life easier. People that abuse it are rude, people that get annoyed at it aren't saying they can't cope without one, just that it's rude to use something you don't need.

Parent and child spaces are voluntary and not legally enforceable. Unlike disabled spaces. So please don't conflate the two.

It drives me mad as well op! Flame away. If you don't have children don't park in the space. If your unable to walk get a disabled parking badge.

I find it seriously inconsiderate and very lazy especially when it's people on a lunch brake blatantly eating their sandwich sat in their car/van while mums struggle with baby seats, shopping and toddlers.

I find it especially annoying now I'm pregnant with spd and trying to shop with ds and manage a trolley while they sit their with their able bodies and no children eating Angry
