My Mum is 71, she had a small fall on Friday. This resulted in her hanging on to her hoover, and that made the hoover hit the window.

It was broken, not terribly, but obviously needs to be fixed.

My Mum just paid, no question, she believes its her fault ...she should cover it.

I'm not so sure, surely LL has buildings insurance?

Its a private long term let. The landlord owns many properties, and is not short of a few $$. Wink

Whats the norm here? please?

If I am being U , so be it. Grin just wondering ...

I wouldn't bother with tenants insurance btw.. They never seem to pay out
Much better to put the premium in an emergency fund (seperate saving account) that can be accessed when required

Well ours paid out no problem when the kitchen floor got flooded and needed to be replaced (due to our own washing machine leaking). Claim was about £500 and we only had to pay £50 excess, so I was glad we had it.

In the OP's mother's case, though, as was only £60-something it probably wouldn't have been worth claiming. But still useful to have the insurance, I would have thought.
