Flying home from holiday today, yummy mummy of OUTRAGEOUSLY named children spent the whole flight
getting them to do maths (or actually she did the whole lot and they looked longingly at my game of bejewelled)
then read Harry Potter to them (loudly)
then got them to write up their holiday diaries (yes dear, other people had villas with pools too)
then nagged her husband to read to them (he didn't)
and basically stopped anybody near her from enjoying their reading material and all of us wondered if she really knew what her child's name said about her (read your history BEFORE naming the child, not after)

PS economy airline - so she was cheap as well as loud.

Just looked at the wiki list of roman emperors.
Apparently there was one called Phocas, which might raise a few eyebrows when loud-parenting! Grin

Sparklingbrook · 07/04/2013 21:18

I know for a fact there is at least one child called Ulysses. I was at the Se Life Centre and a teacher was shouting him to catch them up. Grin

Gossipmonster · 07/04/2013 21:21

There was a woman in our Ryan air flight to Portugal who had 3 DC, her DH and TWO nannies with her.

And a sapphire engagement ring so massive it is prob visible from the moon.

Personally if I had that kind of money I would NOT be flying Ryan Air Grin

minouminou · 07/04/2013 21:21

I also know of a Temujin, which is Genghis Khan's real name.

VBisme · 07/04/2013 21:21

AnyoneforTurps · 07/04/2013 21:21

I have a family of patients with all the kids named after designers e.g. Versace, Gucci (these are not their real names but the real ones are equally bizarre imaginative).

skratta · 07/04/2013 21:22

I knew a kid called Septimius after an emperor (not even Septimus...which is weird as well!). SEPTIMIUS. He was called Tim by his Dad, Sep by his mates and his mum would shout SEPTIMIUS loudly across the playground and loudly mention how they'd better get home to do their maths, after all, if you're doing three years ahead, you need to work! Poor kid though, he hated maths, really hated at it,mand was bottom and his mum skipped over the input he need and he suffered because of it Sad

Badvoc · 07/04/2013 21:26

I know a maximus.
Named after the chap in gladiator.
I kid you not.
I once heard a mum calling out the name "Darcy Elsie" to a little girl.
It made me smile and still done now :)

minouminou · 07/04/2013 21:31

For shits n giggles.....

MrsLettuce · 07/04/2013 21:33

Can someone remind me how to pronounce Titus in English? Been away too long Confused

There's one at school but the local prn. is Tee-tus

AnyoneforTurps · 07/04/2013 21:33

Mind you, I was Hmm at the trend for calling boys Cain/Kane in the late 80s. Sibling rivalry is bad enough without actually giving your DS a fratricidal role model.
