This is an example.

The men in my household find them v. amusing but I have never been even slightly amused.

Its not just me is it?

Ahh. So you DO mean that because you don't find them funny no one else should either.

LornMowa, are you management?

That might skew your perspective a bit.

YANBU to not enjoy Dilbert yourself.
Those of us who have been on the receiving end of Pointy-Haired-Management-techniques AN at all U to find them simultaneously hilarious and depressing.

They make me laugh out loud - which was embarassing when my Secret Santa was a Dilbert book -- I spent the whole morning trying not to annoy people too much by actually shrieking or hooting with laughter Blush. If you've worked for any big organisation, there just so much that you recognise...

Dilbert is much loved by DH, but he works in the dept. of getting things done any which way, regardless of the management or the procedures.

ie the dept. that actually ensures things work and the customers don't sue them.

Dilbert style middle managers hate them.

I find them funny...but then I've worked in many offices.

The actual cartoon is hilarious.

Yabu, it's an IT thing. Yours, a PHB.

Nope not management. My position is fairly lowly.

To re-iterate, I recognise the scenarios, but I find the treatment so lame that I can't believe that anyone would go the bother of publishing them.

Goes off to practice that little chuckle I have to make every time DH shows me one of these hilarious things

I think the are (mostly) hilarious. Occasionally a bit too American for me to understand but mostly is completely in tune with my large multinational employer.

Lots of my colleagues are equally entertained by them.

I think they are funny when I see them but don't actively seek them out.

I used to love Dilbert - I worked for a huge organisation, in IT, with managers who had the technical and interpersonal skills of an aemoba. Dilbert was my life..on paper...and funnier because it was happening to someone else.
Although I felt like Alice rather than Dilbert.

What do you find funny ?

Some people just don't have a sense of humour.

I tend to find them mildly amusing.

Prefer Bastard Operator from Hell.

You don't find them funny, other people do - there's no reasonable or unreasonable about it, just different tastes in humour.

What oink said.

While we're on the subject, I used to have a print out of one Dilbert which was Alice being asked to resume the last meeting. Her response was something along the lines of, "Things were said, decisions made, and all men are stupid". I lost it in an (office) move and have been unable to find it on-line again. Does it ring any bells for anyone? If anyone has a copy or knows the date (it would have been between 1998 and 2005) it was published then please PM me It was one of the funny ones, I swear Grin

Dilbert is not funny AT ALL..... Not even a little bit...... EVER. Dilbert cartoons show up on my Yahoo page.. So just now, I read one, and as usual, I didn't find it funny.. So I said, "Maybe it's just THIS one (and the others I've read)... I'll try MORE..." So I looked up many many other Dilbert comics (if you want to even CALL them "comics"), and I didn't like ANY of them...... Not at ALL.. I didn't laugh, and I didn't even crack a small portion of a SMILE... So I said, "Maybe it's just ME..." So I looked up "Dilbert is not funny" in Google, just to see if I could find people who agree... The first thing I noticed, is that in the Google search box, I didn't even NEED to type the whole phrase.. I Simply typed "Dilbert is" and then the AUTO-COMPLETE feature kicked in, and automatically SUGGESTED that I was about to type "Dilbert is not funny" -- it was right there at the very TOP of the suggestions Google offered me.. So I knew right THEN, that I wasn't alone, because OBVIOUSLY other people have typed "Dilbert is not funny" into a Google search, in order for that suggestion to be so popular within the memory of Google's auto-complete feature... And right at the TOP of my actual search results, I found THIS page.. That is the story of how I got here.. So no, you are not unreasonable, and certainly not alone. We are similar.. And by the way, I actually ENJOY most comedy, and am usually very OPEN to almost ANY comedy, including office humor. I've worked in an office, which seems similar to Dilbert's, I consider myself to be intelligent enough to GET that type of humor, and OTHERS consider me intelligent, and also funny MYSELF at times... I DO enjoy the humor in "The Born Loser" comic strip, including the WORK-related scenes.. "The Office" on NBC was funny to me... The movie "Horrible Bosses" (2011) was hilarious, etc.... But just not Dilbert. I get absolutely NOTHING out of Dilbert. It's horribly boring, in my opinion.
