AIBU?

AIBU to think cutlery licking is disgusting and beyond the pale.

We were sitting at the table today eating a scrumptious chicken puff pastry pie. DH had been berating dd1 for her table manners when I caught him licking the handle of his fork! He claims this was a compliment to the chef as he didn't want to waste any sauce. I was utterly disgusted as I don't want to see cutlery being licked at the table. To make matters worse he then burped. DH says this is all fine and noone on mumsnet would agree with me.

Presumably lollipops and ice cream cones are banned in your house OP?

What are you doing with plastic handled cutlery at the table anyway? How revolting.

There's far worse things he could be doing. Confused

"To make it worse it was a see through handle so I could see his tongue."

That makes you both brilliantlly lovable and silly!

May I suggest that you invest in some different non-see-through cutlery for your DH, or possibly adopt a different seating position around the table so that you cannot view his tongue through the offending cutlery.

Can I come for tea some time please?

Life is too short OP.

complexnumber, you made me laugh =)
I know it's not a huge deal, but it's one of those things that I just can't stand and I hate to see it. We do have a mixed assortment of cutlery so I'll try to ensure he doesn't have the see through cutlery in the future =)
I don't mind lollies and icecream, they were made for licking. In fact, in the right circumstances, I am all for licking!

complexnumber I missed that! I love those quirky things that make people amazing!
Asides from that point I tend to agree with 'life's too short'. Let DH enjoy himself!
