Long story short. Took ds3 to drs on 11th march. He having same symptoms of what ds1 had as a baby. He ended up having a bowel blockage. Ds1 belly button never healed hen the cord fell off. It left a red bloody stump. Drs treated as granuloma he ended up with surgery as it turned out to be a bladder polyp. Ds3 had granuloma and had antibiotic cream to help ease it. It's not heeled properly and the inside of belly button is a brown/transparent colour. Not skin colour like it should be.

He squirms when pooing. It's either like hard/chalk or runny. Same symptoms what ds1 had. Ds1 ended up with surgery to close the wound but drs found a bowel blockage behind it. He was very lucky.

Dr said 'il send for an urgent appointment with consultant pediatric at same hospital where ds1 was treated with same consultant.

Just called drs to find out if referral has been sent as not ward anything. It was only done last night as dr noted it as routine and not urgent!!

I'm fuming?!! He knows what we went through with ds1 asking for referral to hospital to get told by jumped up little drs 'you can ask but you won't get' it took a visit to A&E for drs to see him.

I find that folk very very rarely find the time to say thank you when you go above and beyond to help them out. (I'm a dentist not a GP) but I sometimes deliver/post things special delivery at my own personal expense to get people the best service I can possibly get them and they thank me by not turning up to their next appointment or by bad mouthing my clinic to their friends. WTF?

I really hope that those of you with good GPs who put in the extra effort find time to say thank you/send a Christmas card or whatever because it is a fucking thankless task sometimes with tens of different departments pulling you in all directions to meet THEIR targets because THEIR department is more important than ANYONE else!!

Sirzy · 05/04/2013 18:19

I always thank the local peads department and have helped fundraise for them. In recent years there has been very little which makes me want to thank anyone at the GP practice other than the fantastic nurse.

Lara2 · 05/04/2013 19:07

You can't say that all GP's don't give a shit. Like every job/profession, there will be some people who are shite, but TBH the vast majority are professional and caring and do their very best. The whole system is cumbersome at best and must be hideous to work in. Sadly, when you meet a shite GP it can be a matter of life or death and not just an annoying person serving you in a shop.

When you lose a loved one though drs basically 'not giving one' then yes, you have a somewhat coloured view. So shoot us.

May I just add the First dr with put ds1 who said 'you can ask but you won't get a referral' was at a different doctors. We had to go to A&E to get referred.
I am thankful that I didn't have to fight to get a consultant appointment and with the previous history she referred me without asking saying it was for the best with the history.

I just thought shed have rushed it though.

So yes I was wrong to say all drs are shit. I should have said 'aibu to think this situation is shit'

Yes the situation is shit, and choose and book is useless in my experience.

I know lots of fab drs though, including my dh. Unfortunately they're often having to work against the system to get things done eg maybe for some reason the doc wasn't able to put this through as urgent, it wouldn't surprise me.

I hope you get this sorted soon for your ds.

M0naLisa · 05/04/2013 20:51

Thanks I just hope choose and book isn't too full up.
