whenever I am with this friend? She farts ALL the time and the stench is horrendous. She does apologise but it's getting so I don't want to be around her because the smell is awful. Yesterday we were on a train and all I could smell was mix of rotten egg, shit and some other rotting foul odour and people on the train were coughing and spluttering (I kid you not.) She didn't even look embarrassed and said it wasn't her but I know it was.

She is a lovely person, everyone says so but the farting makes me feel sick.

Veggie/vegan diets do not cause bloody wind - sick of this myth being peddled by rancid flesh eating people. Ever been in the loo after a meat eater has had a poo?

Ahahahahahaha crop dusting that is brilliant Grin

I have a friend like this, she has savage IBS, poor thing, everything seems to set it off and the pain that goes with it is unreal.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 04/04/2013 12:18

I always drop them at the worst times, usually in a queue. I dropped a bomb in H & M so bad yesterday the lady in front checked her kids nappy Blush Could I hell hold the bugger in Blush

Hmmmm OP you seem to know an awful lot about the diet of your 'friend'....Grin

RenterNomad · 04/04/2013 12:50

Yes, a probiotic could help. My DD has had a lot of antibiotics for health problems, and it really does a number on her digestion, poor thing. I'm just about to start some daily probiotics because the shit really stinks after her latest course of ABs. Poor lamb (mine, not necessarily yours)!

I have ibs and I bloody stink sometimes. The only trigger we've found so far is caffeine :( maybe your friend does have a gut problem.
I can't do anything about mine ATM, avoid caffeine (including chocolate) like the plague, but my arse still reeks. No other foods seem to set it going. She is probably mortified, but genuinely can't help it.

Reposts the link to Shreddies - I had a colleague with IBS who said that they really do work.

and stress! stress turns my lower guts into something that sounds like a cappuccino machine. There is no possible way of holding them in!

FurryDogMother · 04/04/2013 13:04

There are 2 things which turn my stomach (you can tell I don't have kids) - snot and farts. Both make me heave. A friend didn't believe me and farted horribly near me one day. I was sick on his shoes. He never did it again. I can't help it any more than the farter can help it, it's a (no pun intended) gut reaction.

DorisIsWaiting · 04/04/2013 13:20

It is probably what she is eating.

I used to be really gassy (not shocking) but a few many farts a day, and with (what I can now see was) a bloated stomach. I tried cutting yeast out which helped a bit but not massively.

I started the low carb diet as a way of losing weight (and it's working) but as an added bonus I now VERY VERY rarely fart (usually when I have strayed!)

I would recommend diet changes.
