To think the age of consent should be raised to 18?

Well... maybe it should be 13 provided the other partner is no more than say... 3 years older. And then 16 provided the partner is no more that 5 or 6 years older? I have no problem (or very little) with teenagers having sex with other teenagers.

It really doesn't sit well with me that it's perfectly legal for a 50 year old to have sex with a 16 year old who's still at school (or not) though. I remember the Sun used to have Sam Fox on page three just after her 16th birthday, yuk! And they had a count down to Charlotte Church's 16th birthday.

I think they should have proper sexual education, at a younger age.

In a perfect world, IMO, this would include gender education, sexual education, relationship education and sexuality education.

So children would be taught about equal partnerships, signs of abuse and who to report it to, that sex should be consented to and enjoyed, that it is okay to have feelings towards same sex. They would also be taught about safe sex and how to prevent STIs and pregnancy.

I left high school in 09 so it was quite recent in the scheme of things that I was in education and I personally don't think I was told enough. The girls had "sex ed" in year 5. This explained what periods were. We had it again in year 7, this time with the boys in the class too and then in year 9 we watched a video were a cartoon man does pressups on a woman and then a dog gives birth.

It was shockingly uninformative. If I had a better education I think I would have made better, more informed choices.

Teenagers are having sex. Fact. Unless you police their every movemtent you can't stop them. So I think it's better to take the oppurtunity to properly educate them if they're doing it anyway and keep them safe.
