to buy a double buggy for a 3 and 4 yr old.

I have 4 children aged 5,two 3 yr olds(one was 3 last week one is 4 next week)ad a 6 month old.The eldest is at school full time now(was going to home educate but decided to try school,and he/we are loving it)my middle two go to the o site pre school 2 full days a week.

DH does the school run in the mornings as he drives past there at that time anyway,i collect ds from school and the the other two from pre school on the days they are there.

On the way back the younger two are so tired from a full day at pre school,they are so slow,which would be ok if they were only slow but the moaning!It is terrible and i the cold weather its taking us about half a hour to get home,which is about half a mile away!

I am thinking of getting a stroller type buggy for them,and putting the baby in a sling just for those days when they are tired,or possibly a stroller so i can put just dc3 in it and then the baby in a sling,or baby ad dc2 int he double?

Dc2 is getting a mini micro scooter for his birthday so maybe this will solve the problem?dc1 has one and he whizzes home on it.

Do it. If it makes life easier, do it.

Get a second hand one.

Or, get a regular stroller and buggy board.

I can get two 4yos on my buggy board - Lascal maxi. A neater solution?

Maybe get both of the little ones scooters. It will probably really help. Or a buggy board for one at a time to use.

I bought the obaby zoom when my two were 3 & 4, It was a god send, school runs when they were tired, long walks out, days out at zoo/theme parks etc (long day, loads of walking) chucking my shopping in I bought a cheapy double stroller first but it didnt last five minutes, the zoom I paid about £400 for, but sold on ebay for £300 after 18months use! so I got i good deal really :)

Yes I'd get the double buggy. You'll be able to use it for the 3yr old and 6 month old. I briefly had the nipper 360 (side-by-side) it was great.

I would get a scooter, balance bike or trike for both of them.

I would go with scooters pushing a 3 yr old, 4 yr old and carrying a 6 month old will do your back in!

Is it hilly, I have 2.9 yo twins and I have to stop and rest up some hills, it is really hard work.

yes, do it - and you can probably pick up a 2nd hand phil and ted quite easily (I recommend them).

Didn't mean to sound rude there but that's what I would worry about. Think I'd do scooters/ trikes. Although might not be so great in bad weather. All sounds like hard work for you !

I wouldn't fancy pushing a double buggy with two bigger children in it (by the way how much does your 4 year old weigh, would he/she be over the weight limit in any case?) with a baby strapped to me. You could put the four year old on a scooter and push the double with the three year old and the baby, but it might be unbalanced if it's a side by side one and would the three year old object to being a "baby" whilst the four year old had a scooter? Personally I'd get scooters for both and then bribe them with chocolate buttons if necessary to get home.

No double will take their combine weight, though. It will be very hard for you too especially if there is a hill . Are you able to push them both?

Actually the P&T takes two kids of around 50lbs each - it has a 100lb maximum

Personally I wouldn't but I feel very strongly about children walking when feasible and half a mile is not far. My 22month old regularly walks that home from nursery at the end of the day.

Could you not get a buggy board and get them to swap over so they each get a bit of a break. Or get a double, put bang in half and they swap over the other half? 1/4 mile should really be no problem for that age.

I would get a buggy board (lascal maxi) and a good sling like an ergo/ patapum which you can use on your back for better weight distribution. Then you can do a combo of baby in sling, one in pram, one on buggy board or walking and baby in pram, it covers all your bases then as the four year old might want to walk more as the weather gets better? I feel your pain I really do. The people I know who sneer at older kids in buggies generally drive their kids everywhere anyway!

Yes if it's going to make life bearable. Maybe look on free cycle for a temporary fix buggy wise? Or get the scooter early?

My kids get very seriously exhausted too. Walking at the end of a long exhausting day is hard going. You could always try little treats at various points they reach - a fruit flake or what ever.

Sorry I read the OP properly now, for half a mile you are joking! It is very close! And I am talking as a person without a car.
If it was 2 miles or more I might have said yes you have a point.

have just remembered i have a buggy board maxi so will use that,have ordered the spare part i need,which is why i havnt used it yet,they both fit on that,plus ds2 might want to scoot with his brother.

I used to have ds1,3,ds2,2 both in a pushchair,and dd1 in a sling on my back up until i fell pregnant with ds3,so am quite strong from all the carrying ad pushing so that wouldnt of been a problem,but am glad ive found the buggy board as it meas i dot have to fork out hundreds of pounds on pushchairs,ive had so many ow im sick of the bloody things!
