To have spent a lot of the Easter holidays indoors?

I have 3 DC (2, 4 & 7)and haven't been away this Easter. Apart from a few trips to the swimming pool, having a few friends round and a couple of trips to our local park we have spent most of the hols indoors. Lots of people we know seem to be doing stuff or visiting family so I feel a bit at our lack of activities.
Today for example, DS isn't feeling to well, it's freezing cold outside and not much is open. AIBU to spend the day indoors?

Is everyone away apart from me??!!

ds is 10 and is relishing not having yo do anything, I have a couple of weeks off too and feel the same.

Hi, i'm at home too. It is too bloody cold to go out. Older dc at work or watching tv with dh. Youngest gone to gps for few days. Me snuggly in doors completely oblivious to the world outside. Heaven

Oh good I have had flu for a week.Normally i plan loads too tired this time.Kids can play in garden.

Two feet of snow here! Have only been out with the dogs or to grab some essential groceries.

We've all taken it in turns to be sick this weekend so all our plans have been cancelled and we've spent it all snuggled up on the sofa taking turns with the sick bucket...! So no YANBU.

We tried legoland on Friday but it was so bitterly cold we came home after lunch!

I a lot of people put themselves under pressure in the holidays to do things, take their dc out to places, to be busy. I know parents who do.

I see the holidays as a time to relax and not rush around...ds loves hanging about the house, playing on the computer, doing lego, he sees a friend or two during the week. Bliss.

Yesterday was gorgeous blue skies & sunshine here so we spent the day in the garden, back to grey skies and icy winds today though, a bit depressing!

Much the same for us. Too much snow last week (DD broke up over a week ago), her local friends were away and we couldn't get the car out to visit anyone. So DD had a very boring week.

hotcrosbum - I agree, I think there is a lot of pressure to do things and I often spend most of the holidays feeling guilty for not doing enough, even though the DC are quite content

Agree with you Hotcrossbuns at the risk of sounding really naff we just played in the garden or played indoors in my day.

beeny - that's not naff at all, as DH says the DC don't really care where they are, as along as they are playing & having fun.

Often days out at this time of year can be more stress (long car journeys, COLD, queues, expense, strops, complete disinterest from DC until they get to a play park) than playing in the house/garden or trotting along to our local park.

Can't wait until Summer!

My kids dont know they are born.I once spent easter holidays peeling ginger and garlic so we could liquidise and freeze it.I had indian parents they did a lot of cooking.

yanbu. Last half term I planned/did:
pottery- decopatch- art gallery- museum-baking scones/biscuits- park-cycling/scooting-cinema-metting up w/friends

This half term the dds are playing with a duvet spread out on the living room floor while I cling to a hot water bottle plus mumsnet and endless tea whilst recovering from a flu, but the whole thing is strangely therapeutic for someone who detests being indoors.

Sounds like you've done a lot, but I know what you mean. I had been waiting all winter to go out and about with ds, maybe London Aquarium or a musical or camping with friends... but it feels too cosy here. I'm wondering whether to go out at all today, starting to run out of food! Cheese on toast for lunch today, need to go supermarket.... arghhhh!

We've done nothing here. Dh and I are both sick with some wierd d&v bug and dd has a horrible hacking cough. So far dd has had a blast with her crafts and paints. and watching dvds in bed with me.

YANBU. We have tried to escape the house most days, but it is freezing and so it tends to be a quick canter around the park just to say we have left the house. DC dont seem to mind as long as they have things to occupy them.

No you're not, its bloody freezing! You've already done more than me and dd, all we have done is go out for lunch on Sunday with the family. I'm not even planning on getting dressed today

YANBU. I'm always very envious of people with children who are happy to stay in and potter. We didn't do lots of holiday activities when I was a child, and I used to relish not having to be anywhere.

DS however is the type of child who is climbing the walls if we stay in beyond mid-morning. He just seems to need a lot of fresh air and exercise. So we go out, whatever.the weather...
