every time this cupronol advert comes on i think, i don't get it.

Shed don't cry and don't take bottles of milk, if its supposed to be a baby, we don't paint babies when they cry

help!

Can I go against the grain here and say that I do sort of get it. People get very, very fond of their sheds. I discovered last year that there is a whole shed sub-culture out there. I had a BIG birthday and DH bought me (at my request) a summer house. I wanted to paint it and make it special and my search for inspiration led me to to sites like Readers Sheds which is where people post pictures of their sheds and summer houses and discuss how they customised them. I spent hours on that site until DH started calling it my "shed porn"!

Oh and I did use Cuprinol in then end and painted it in willow and country cream and it is so lovely. The Cuprinol website even has a little application where you can choose sample structures and click on the colour chart to see what they would look like in different shades.

Katz Probably! But there seem to be enough of us out there to make it understandable, to me at least, that they thought this advert would hit the spot

BTW has anyone else noticed that some of the adverts popping up at the side and top of this page are shed-related?

It's a protective product - the advert is a metaphor for care and maintenance of an item that many people would effectively abandon to the elements. It's hardly cryptic.

Wmittens I think there is a bit more to it than just protection. There are plenty of woodstains and preservatives in natural colours that would fulfil the protective role. But I think the fact that this product has a range of such delightful colours appeals to those of us who want to indulge our shed and personalise it.

Treating your shed like a baby might be a bit far fetched but when you have become a proud new shed (or summer house) owner youself you might understand how this idea works at a certain level.

Am I sounding weird now?
