to want to take the bedding back that my DH bought?

I mentioned to my DH that I had ordered some bedding but wouldn't be delivered for a few weeks as it is currently out of stock.

I went out today with the kids and on my return he surprised me with a new duvet set that he had put on the bed.

Lovely idea, but it's not something that I would of chosen. Every time I walk in the bedroom I think I wish we had a different one.

He has the hump with me a bit as I told him that I didn't like it and I hate the colour - it's a bit orangey. He went to work and left it on the bed.

Now I know I am being ungrateful and probably should of been a bit more tactful but do I leave it and live with it or should I change it for something else?

My dh is not even empowered to buy cups after bringing some hideous mugs home! White we have white china, how he missed this lord only knows.

Bedding we have white....see the theme.

bedspread?

Just order a nice one, keep the bedding, then everyone is happy.

BabyMakesTheBellyGoRound · 30/03/2013 09:32

I have two of the same bedspread so I can put any duvet cover on underneath and cover it up so it looks fine.

DP bought black satin sheets, pillow cases and duvet covers (cheap primark ones) when he was a student. I took the piss relentlessly and refused to sleep on them more than once, he just had to come over to mine.

They were so slippery, the pillows would shoot off the bed at speed and the duvet would be slithering all over the place.

I think he though they looked cool [buconfused]

yes yes Madamfolie!!!Same happened to me when silk bedding was bought in Hong Kong, because other men were buying such bargains! We are old and could break a hip slithering off!Huge strange sizing too.I am hugely ungrateful!!

Sorry MadamFolly even!

MadamFolly He was (to his mind) a playboy student with pimp bedsheets! A girl in his bed totally validates that, even if she slides out! Good on you for playing along just the once. I'd have indulged that a couple more times, just to laugh at the satisfied look on his face as he imagined himself as Hugh Hefner.

I'd take ugly/silk sheets with my boyfriend atm, at least buying new sheets would mean sleeping in clean ones. I'll be damned if I'm doing any mans washing before theres a ring on my finger!

Madam black satin sheets screams wannabe ladies man from the 70s, one step removed from the revolving waterbed. Did he splash on some Brut and ask you up to his room to see 'his etchings'

In my head your partner resembles Robin Askwith in the Confessions... films!

TBH, I have some stuff I don't like that my mother gave me. I tend to put them on the be often hoping they will be unusable soon. :o Or keep it for guests and stuff.

Viviennemary · 30/03/2013 14:47

It's done now. So just have it as a spare set. You can hardly return it when it's been unpacked and put on the bed. My DH is forbidden to buy anything as it's always awful.

MadamFolly · 30/03/2013 15:27

DP is so lovely and usually has alright taste, not a ladies man at all. No idea what was going through his head when he got them.

They were the epitome of vile and awful and I let him know it.
