My kindle is in the house somewhere. No idea where. I wish I could ring it.

Sitting in the bath listening to music through headphones (babies in bed) but cannot wash my hair. I don't want the music to stop!

What do you wish did more?

I wish you could call people from iPads/tablets and use them as a big (but really good) speaker phone, i.e. chat to people while it's on a desk and wander about the room at the same time.

Tee2072 · 24/03/2013 21:02

I've always thought the iPad should have a phone in it.

Hassled · 24/03/2013 21:05

The technology is there - you need a swimming ipod armband thingy. I have one. And then the waterproof headphones. A costly investment, though.

My technology need is simple - I want a gadget that snaps dried lasagne sheets without splintering/cracking. That's not a lot to ask, is it?

HazeltheMcWitch · 24/03/2013 21:06

I agree Tee. But if it did, would it negate the need for an iPhone? So, bad for Apple.

Tee2072 · 24/03/2013 21:09

You might still want both, Hazel. I wouldn't want to carry an iPad everywhere.

Oopla · 24/03/2013 21:11

Hassled YES! Just...YES!

To the lasagne sheet snapper btw.

Ds dropped my iPhone in the bath on Monday and it miraculously survived so am probably tempting fate bringing it in the bathroom again.

Can you face time on iPads?

Dd has a touch and face time is the coolest thing I've ever seen. And FREE!

Oooh - what waterproof stuff have you got Hassled? I would love to listen to Radio 4 cool groovy music such as the young people enjoy whilst swimming if I could be sure I wouldn't just be drowning my Mp3 player whilst wearing rubbish headphones!

Hassled · 24/03/2013 22:54

Not this but something like this - bought mine a good few years ago. Basically an armband so you can sing while you swim - is really good.

Kleptronic · 24/03/2013 22:59

Another one for the lasagne sheet snapper here. That's so annoying. After all, there is every kind of useless gadget for everything else. Those egg slicer things, for example. Garlic pressers. Fish slices, ffs, nobody ever uses them. Why not lasagne sheet snappers, hmm?

Trills · 24/03/2013 23:00

If the person you want to call on your iPad has Skype or Google Chat or an iPhone or iPad of their own you can call them using that.

ArtemisKelda · 24/03/2013 23:03

I'd like a waterproof Kindle, I still need paperbacks so I can read in the bath.

Tee2072 · 25/03/2013 08:22

You can get waterproof Kindle cases, also.

ArtemisKelda · 25/03/2013 08:28

Fabulous! Thanks Tee

Stinkyminkymoo · 25/03/2013 08:39

@hassled, if you soak your lasagna sheets in boiling water for a few minutes, you can then cut them to the correct shape & ta da! No splintering!

No help on much else though Grin

Oopla · 25/03/2013 09:42

Awesome tip stinky Smile

stinky - that is inspired - Thanks

MrsBW · 25/03/2013 20:44

I know you can Facetime/Skype on an iPad - but it's not the same dammit!! Grin

Stinky possibly the best tip I've ever read! So simple!

SimoneDeBeaver · 25/03/2013 20:46

I want someone to invent a universal charger. We have about 2,543 in our house.

And aerial cables that actually plug into the right place, not have to be balanced precariously then tentatively screwed into place and then still don't work (can you tell I've just spent a fruitless hour trying to connect up our new tv).

Stinkyminkymoo · 26/03/2013 07:23

Wow! My first useful thread input!

diamondsagirlsbestfriend · 26/03/2013 08:04

I believe you can get viber on ipads its an app that lets you ring/txt etc and you can send pics, but cant video chat which i find awesome at times :)

Sokmonsta · 26/03/2013 08:08

Kindle needs something like the 'find my iPhone' app. That is bloody brilliant. Doesn't shut up until you've found it and turned the alarm off. also very handy for getting an urgent message to dh/friends when you know they're ignoring their phone. Oh no I've never done that!!
