Having always been at work ive never had the pleasure of going so i dont know hat the etiquette is.

Can i take a pram (with a child in it not for putting clothes in) or will i anger the haords and be a pita? Or should i wait til tomorrow and be left with the dregs to shop through?

Don't go...they buy in cheap clothes just for the sale...it's why you never see anything you've had your eye on previously!

VonHerrBurton · 23/03/2013 19:20

Bluer - that is absolute bullshit, with respect. They don't 'buy in cheap clothes just for the sale'.

mum47 · 23/03/2013 19:25

Bloody Next sale - I had an online slot booked, (the very first on the list of times given to me) as I usually get stuff for my ds' there - their boys trousers are great (almost everything else is shit these days) Also were some homeware things I was after.

Went on the minute with my little list the minute my slot started and absolutely everything I wanted was sold out. This always happens. Most annoyed, and cba going to the actual shop, Grrr.

JambalayaCodfishPie · 23/03/2013 19:27

I've just bought some bits for both DDs online - I'd had a look online earlier in the week then someone on here mentioned there was a sale coming up.

Was glad i waited. Bought t shirts, jeans etc - simple stuff.

We're all mostly kitted out in Next. Me because their jeans are the only things that fit my weird shaped long legs, but had no problems with quality. Never had any issues with the girls stuff either.

mum47 · 23/03/2013 19:34

I used to always get jeans for me from Next and the odd top but I think that their sizes have gone weird - they are much bigger than they used to be. I am a (not small) size 10 in jeans but their size doesn't fit me anymore and there is no way I have shrunk to an 8. The leg lengths are unreliable too.

OhLori · 23/03/2013 19:39

Agree. Don't bother its rubbish!

Popped into it today. A couple of rails of rubbish. That was it!

INeedThatForkOff · 23/03/2013 19:41

I tried to spend money at Next a couple of weeks ago, when everything was full price. I just couldn't. It was all shite.

OhLori · 23/03/2013 20:04

And just to add, since I popped into M&S "Sale" whilst I was at it, was almost as bad

PenelopePisstop · 23/03/2013 20:05

You haven't missed anything online that's for sure. Rubbish.

ThePinkOcelot · 23/03/2013 20:08

I did mine online, spent £24 and £3.99 of that was postage! Load of crap!

ouryve · 23/03/2013 20:13

The half time ones are never that good, though I didn't get a VIP slot until yesterday, since I had no power when the invitations went out and I was surprised at how much I found. I got some nice snow boots for DS2 - they're normally all sold out by the time we even get any snow. They also had some nice shower curtains and I picked up a lovely red sweater that'll be great for DS1, next winter.

IAmLouisWalsh · 23/03/2013 20:22

Mid season ones are pretty hopeless. Got hardly anything - but stocked up at Christmas anyway. DS1 and 2 are two years apart and Next stuff generally lasts through DS1 to DS2 and is often in good enough nick to sell on afterwards, too.

Nirvana1999 · 23/03/2013 20:40

I went into the store today to get some older boys pj's. They had none, NONE! The sales assistant wandered around the shop looking for them, came back 10 mins later saying she couldn't find them. I then asked someone else( I wasn't looking for sale ones btw) to be told they didn't have any Confused

bluer · 23/03/2013 20:41

They do buy in stock...one of my close relatives works in the offices and so whilst not all is,a lot is def stuff they buy in and pass off. Thanks for being so rude though Grin

Nirvana1999 · 23/03/2013 20:42

I also had a £30 gift card that I struggled to spend. Came out empty handed, I used to love Next but it's went downhill rapidly.

idiot55 · 23/03/2013 21:14

yip they defintly buy in certain stock especially for the sale , fact.

I think for me next baby and little kid stuff is good but certainlythe girls stuff gets worde as they get older.

bedmonster · 23/03/2013 21:43

I worked there for a couple of years, doing the deliveries and working on the shop floor and the week before the sale, extra deliveries and sale rails arrived. They did buy back old stock to sell on.

Lora1982 · 23/03/2013 23:56

Where do they buy it back from? Well i spent a grand total of £14 only one is available straight away how can the other sale bits be delivery in 4 weeks? Was slightly miffed the babygrows i saw instore wednesday were considered too good for the sale.

Not even bothered to go near the place. Style, function and price of clothes has gone waaay downhill. Cant believe they are still open. Atrocious!! One of my mates used to work for them, the things she used to tell me....

JemimaMuddledUp · 24/03/2013 15:16

I popped into store this morning as it looked quiet and I was passing and bought a knitted dress and a tunic top for DD. Grand total of £13. Add that to the £32 I spent online on shoes for DS1 and boots for myself... I don't think my shopping will keep them afloat.

I was a little bit baffled though as to why a couple of items (a peplum top and a longline cardi off the top of my head) that are in the sale online were out as full priced stock in store.
