DS (19 months) is recovering from a bout of a vomity bug, and hasn't quite got his appetite back.
DP's kindly looked after DS while I went to work today. When I got back from work, DM said that she was very worried about him because he hadn't wanted to eat any chocolate buttons, and that he must be very ill because no child refuses chocolate buttons - although apparently over the course of the day DS had eaten some weetabix, banana, yoghurt, pears, and part of a puree pouch. This is a big improvement in his appetite. Weetabix, bananas and yoghurt are some of DS's favourite foods.
Chocolate, on the other hand, isn't one of DS's favourite foods - he's rarely offered chocolate buttons at home, and hasn't shown all that much interest in them when offered them, so it's not all that surprising to me that he doesn't want them when he's ill. DP's have always previously claimed that they hardly ever offer him chocolate when they're babysitting too.
But DM keeps going on about DS insisting on playing stacking games with the chocolate buttons instead of eating them, and saying how worried she is about him not eating chocolate.
AIBU to think that DS refusing a food that's not a favourite when he's recovering from illness isn't something to be very concerned about? Given that he is starting to eat favourite foods again?
