I do not know where to start, just to let you know the children will not be able to stay immediately as the house is over run by pets its like a zoo .

My son has asthma and it needs completely gutting throughout ,cleaning ,painted in every room , carpeted through out,and much more, that is only the start please help.

Could you afford a professional deep clean? Our house was filthy. And with me heavily pregnant with a toddler in tow it was our only option. Got the whole house done for £85.

Also if paints affect his asthma there are less noxious versions which shouldn't affect him if rooms are ventilated while they're painted. It is harder with kids, but we're doing loads to ours and managing to get by.

If you need to stay somewhere until the house is ready, and haven't got anyone to put you up, chain hotels and small local B+Bs often do weekly deals (for contractors) where you get rooms at very reasonable prices for more nights iyswim.
You can hire carpet and floor cleaners and steamers if walls need stripping too. It might cost a bit, but the "right tools" will make everything much quicker and easier for you to do.
If you can sleep elsewhere, then if the children are at school you can crack on every day and get the place liveable pretty fast - or if they are preschool, can someone watch them for you, or can they play out in the garden while you get stuff done indoors?
Just shove all your boxes/packing cases in one room and get everywhere else ready before you even start to unpack. It is MUCH easier to "do stuff" before you have actually moved in properly than it is to try and shovel your lives round and round from room to room to do it afterwards, and much less stressful.
Are you anywhere near Hartlepool? I'll come and help if you are, I can watch the DCs or strip wall paper (well up to about 6ft, then I can't reach Grin) or bring you sarnies and tea if you are Grin anything for a nose through someone else's house!

I second a professional deep clean..

Oter than that just marking my place for moving tips :)

As the veteran of 14 moves in 22 years - truly - my major tip is to make sure all your bedding is really handy & make your beds as soon as the beds get into the bedrooms. There is nothing worse than getting to the end of the day & wanting to go to bed & then having to start hunting for the duvets & making the beds.

You can also eat as much as you want over the moving week & you won't put on any weight!

magimedi said what I was going to say. As soon as you get to your new house make the beds up. Nothing else will be more important on Day One.

And take the kettle, milk and tea bags with you in the car.

Put all your brewing up equipment in ONE box and label it and load it last. Book a supermarket online shop for the afternoon you move in and take away for the night. The shop sounds a hassle but you'll really appreciate it the morning after.
