What is their agenda?

It's so negative about England and women and well, ... Just about everything.

But why?

I wonder if at the next general election they will come out in favour of UKIP. They have been very anti (current) Tory of late but were kind to Gideon about the budget. It does seem to be the UKIP supporter's paper of choice though.

It is vile vile vile. Irresponsible reporting at best, hatemongering xenophobic misogynistic bastards at worst.

The problem is though the lay out and runningnof the website is genius. It is so user friendly, people love the pictures, and the red and green arrowing comments sections after most articles plays to the worst in people.

Every newspaper and its owners and writers have an agenda and their content is manipulated and twisted to fit. The Guardian is as bad as the Mail for writing half truths and poorly researched drivel. The Independent are also really bad for this. I know of one owner who has loads of magazines (news and business mags) under his empire - the news mag gets lots of PR and hardly any sales. It's the boring titles (think Recycling Weekly sort of thing) that sell lots but they don't get him invited to parties

They are all as bad as each other. I don't 100% trust any article in any paper/magazine

I used to have some friends that were journalists and they spun stories all the time and left out bits they knew should have gone into stories.

Journalists want to get the job done and go home just like all of us - a lot of them couldn't give a shit as to the accuracy of the crap they pull together.

And TV and radio are just as bad

the daily fail is a fucked up paper - think only middle england middle aged bigots read it...

BabyFaker · 22/03/2013 14:30

And regarding the HUUUGE readership of the daily mail online - they deliberately make that website as clicky as possible. If you look at other sites that are considered 'good design' they are simpler and have less bits of content to see straight away.

The massive amounts of pics and stories in view on the mail encourage you to click click click click rather than read. This is how they make an absolute fortune.

They're really tapping into the right in the US, too, it's popular over there and has a US section. Any NHS-bashing story will have Americans saying "and this is what Obama wants for us!". So they're also helping the pretty horrible American health care system.

"the daily fail is a fucked up paper - think only middle england middle aged bigots read it..."

Perhaps only middle England bigots buy the paper, but online is a different story entirely.

Their (evil) genius is to be so awful controversial that they've got people who can't stand them and what they represent, visiting their site and sharing links to it on social media. So their online readership now includes people across the political spectrum, including those who wouldn't be seen dead with a copy of the paper in RL.
