to report a solicitor to the Law Society of Scotland?

Would we be wasting our time? We have discovered that a solictor we had engaged for conveyancing purposes appears to be corrupt.
Is there any sanction for corrupt solicitors in Scotland? I gather there is an ombudsman for England and Wales, who names and shames dodgy solictors, but no equivalent body for Scotland.
Is the Law Society of Scotland a closed shop which just protects its own members?

Have you raised a grievance with the firm? Can you elaborate on the type of corruption? Have you lost any money? In short, yes, your concerns would be taken seriously. There is a legal matters board where you will get helpful responses on here. I once had a ridiculous claim made against me, which was obviously a waste of time but they investigated nonetheless.

Here you go - but I would also suggest that you ask MNHQ to move this to the legal board as mentioned above.

Regulation of solicitors is a serious thing and no, it is not a closed shop. You need to contact the SLCC about this, but you d need to raise it with the firm first I think
