To feel like doing virtually nothing

While dd2 sleeps in the afternoon. I feel I've got a hundred things I'd like to achieve and yet I find that after a couple of little jobs I just want to sit and stare into space or look at mumsnet. That's okay though isn't it? Dd2 is 20 months and wakes twice or three times a night and my other two dc are early risers (geberalky by six) and dh is at work seven til six. All fine, not bothered but okay to feel a bit lacking zest by lunchtime? Otherwise I'll be googling depression!

Yes i used to do this all the time or i would have been googling depression.

Eskino · 20/03/2013 12:39

Perfectly fine. Think of it as meditation if you need to justify it !

this, right now, when DS is at pre-school and DD is asleep is the one 2hr window in the whole week that I have to myself. I only have 2 days off and DS doesn't nap so on Thurs he is always about. Even once they're in bed, DH wants to watch a thing we both want to watch (ie, his choice that I acquiese to), so this is my tiny bit of time to MN, watch a chick flick, drink hot tea etc. I might put washing on as the kettle boils but that's it. I deeply resent it if DD chooses not to nap or I have marking to do. So no, YANBU. Smile

I have also chosen to do very little today. I am 22+3 weeks pregnant and am not sleeping very well (not helped by a DH that decided he wanted to chat when he got into bed last night and woke me up. A little while later he is snoring away and I am staring at the ceiling for several hours!!) It is my son's birthday today and he was so excited he got up at 5.30am.

I have put an AT AT Walker together and built some Star Wars lego. I will do the dishes in a bit and a general tidy up of the living room, but apart from that, I am sitting in front of the telly/computer and I refuse to feel guilty about it!!

Thank you. Please may I have specific permission not to knit, despite the fact that I love it and want my dc to have jumpers lovingly hand knitted by their mother? (Sorry - specific mad thought I frequently have!)

Whatever you do, OP, do NOT KNIT! You need to do practically nothing, in order to achieve an optimum rest state Smile

I'm 16 weeks pg and supposed to be doing some work today. But I am exhausted and have only just mustered the energy to make some porridge.

Be still!

fairylightsinthesnow · 20/03/2013 12:58

absolutely, though I will shortly be picking up the crochet Grin

Molehillmountain · 20/03/2013 13:02

Thanks again. I'm going to assume I may also not start my own business, do a work out video or bake my own bread. These are all good things. I just don't want to.

Have just got to ask what you're crocheting. Might read a knitting mag. Nearly like the real thing...
