I'm a lurker on another parenting forum and the difference between MNet and this other one is huge! I really should stop going on it but it's a guilty pleasure.

No one can disagree with an OP without getting a response which is usually "Why are you saying this? Don't be nasty! It's ok OP hun, don't listen to any negative opinions!"

A poster admitted to weaning at 8 weeks to get more sleep and was told "Aw hun mummy knows best!" Anyone who voiced their concerns had their posts deleted. A reason I'm a lurker, it would be a waste of time as I'd get removed.

AIBU to think that adults who cannot hack any differing opinions should not be posting on a public forum?

Never mind not posting on a public forum... I can't believe they are breeding! Grin

Stay here. Far less fluffy here!

ToupOfRegDwight · 19/03/2013 09:00

I'll never venture to the fluffy side! I shudder at "hun" and "hugz!"

YANBU! I defected from another forum (not the fluffiest one but definitely on track for winning and award for fluff) after I came here by mistake. I fell in love with how blunt everyone was and how good the advice is here and how opposing views aren't deleted (but ripped to shreds sometimes instead Shock ). I am converted

Site have their own styles and shibboleths.

The Internet is huge, and people gravitate to the site that suits their styles.

A fluffy site is not wrong in being fluffy, just as MN is not wrong in being more robust.

Jesus I also stumbled upon the vipers nest by mistake. Love it.

Scaevola I understand that but it's the fact that no one can voice their opinion if it differs to that of the OP without being made out to a be a bitch. They won't get anywhere in life if they cry and make a big deal out of their thoughts not being the be all and end all.

I don't think you can assess someone's ability to cope in real life from a liking of a fluffy site.

scaevola · 19/03/2013 09:41

Perhaps it's a bit like putting on a onesie and fluffy slippers at the end of the day. It doesn't mean you wear them out of the house Grin

ToupOfRegDwight · 19/03/2013 09:45

I hope that's the case, and I love how you put it!
