To feel sorry for myself...

Was at hospital today to meet with a neurologist regarding strange numbness and pains I've been having in the right hand side of my face and down my right arm. Could be a number of things apparently including trigemenal neuralgia and/or MS. Will have to wait approximately 6 months for an MRI scan to look into the possibiliyt of MS. Felt like shit driving home and then some old guy in a white van ran into the back of me at a round about and I narrowly missed being hit by a lorry. Car looks like it will be a write off.

On the plus side, the fright I got appears to have temporarily cured by constipation...are you having a worse day. Please say yes....

I could make something up if you like Smile. I woke up to find my arms had fallen off, my DH has run off with my mum, the house fell down and the cat just pooed on my face.

Sorry you're having such a hard time. The car can be fixed or replaced. Hope you get some answers health-wise sooner rather than later. Thanks

Thank you ChairmanWow. Normally the kids would be with me in the car but OH had them since I was at hospital so I'm thinking that someone was looking out for me in some way.

In my opinion, if it doesn't happen all the time, no one is unreasonable for feeling sorry for themself ocassionally.

Therefore if you've not met your 'normal' quota, YANBU (and even if you've exceeded it YANBU but may need further help) x

Can you afford to pay for an MRI privately? I know it's expensive (I can't afford!) but if you can do, just to get answers. Have you definitely been referred for one? My DH was told he'd been referred but after chasing found out he hadn't been. xxx Good luck

The wait times for an MRI in herts is 2 weeks Confused

Where do you live that you have to wait six months?

Fanjounchained · 18/03/2013 18:22

Aldi Mum and Dad have offered to pay for it (they were trying to talk to me when I got home tonight but was still a wreck after the car accident) as we can't afford it. No idea how much one would cost but am thinking a couple of hundred at least. Doc I spoke to today said she was definitely referring me and I had bloods taken today too.

I'm in Glasgow. It was the doc I saw today that told me six months. Must be because we're such a healthy lot up here ! The infuriating thing is that I've been waiting since October for the effing appointment today as someone in the hospital cocked up my last appointment. I was due to go in January, couldn't make it because of short notice and no one to watch the kids. Told them this and I was promised a new appointment but they marked me down as a "no show" and didn't send out a new appointment date until I chased it up.

Fanjo, I feel for you.

I've got a numbness-inducing neuro condition (can't feel my hands or my legs/feet below the knee, or my lower face,) am dizzy, unsteady on my feet and have lost Proprioception, the joint position sense which means if I can't see it, I don't know where it is! I fall down in the dark, and if I put a dark top over my head, I can't clap my hands with my eyes shut!

With trigeminal or possible ms you really shouldn't be waiting 6 months. I went to hospital (after a nasty fall on the stairs) on 2 Jan, had chest x-ray and abdo ultrasound same day. Head and neck CT following day. Emg (nerve conduction tests -with numbness you need to DEMAND this) 2 days later, MRI in 3 weeks - was diagnosed by Feb last year and put on a rolling treatment schedule.

Where are you, if you don't mind me asking? You might very well need to be seen by a specialist neuro in a big hospital if you haven't until now. They can really hurry things up.

Get in touch via pm if you want to chat more. My illness is CIDP, a Demyelinating illness related to ms, so I'm 15 months further on, not any wiser but have had the experience!!
