To phone high school and report pupils?

Just phoned the local high school as whilst on the school run back from local primary I saw a group of yr7/8 boys larking around and actually running out onto a pretty busy road. Obviously they were larking around and not looking behind them for cars. I knew one of the boys surnames so told the school secretary and just said that the school should be aware that thier pupils don seem to have much road sense. I know the mum of one of the boys would be the first to blame the school if any thing happened to her pfb!! I was with my young children hence why I want to set an example. Not just a busy body with nothing better to do.

I told a couple of yr 7 or 8 boys off for playing chicken down our (quite busy) road. I'm not sure who was more mortified, them, or my 10 yr old son and his friend Grin

I think you were unfair naming just one boy as that will put him under lots of pressure now I imagine and not justified as sounds like they were all at fault. So I'd say dob on one, dob on them all!

However I would have said something generally just so that teachers could bring it up in assembly or something.

YANBU.

From naming one, the school will probably be able to take a good guess at who his companions were (or they'll ask him who he walks home with) and then round them up before telling them off

I did say I only knew one of the boys in the group of 5 or 6. The school would be able to tell more than likely which little crew it was. But that's what I said on the phone...maybe a message needs to go out in assembly or something similar.

YANBU - my Dad hit a child who was playing "chicken" in the road with his friends - very traumatic for everyone concerned.

I see kids doing this and it's heartstopping. YANBU.
when I was at school my friend saw another child killed by a car. It was awful.
It's something the teachers need to address with them and their parents too so yes they should know.

I am both a teacher and head of year and we rely on people like you to help keep our kids safe. Our children are bused in from a nearby village. We do so much road safety stuff with our kids but still, on average, there is one accident every year. Luckily, so far, nothing too serious but still, when there is a specific incident we need to know. YANBU

I am a teacher and feel it is useful to know what my class are up to out of school as can affect behaviour in school. Did contact local secondry to let them know some of their students were targeting us and our neighbours houses and being really threatning (threw stuff at me whilst I was holding 6week old baby) as I wanted the head to inform whole school of their behaviour and remove 'bragging' rights from the kids involved. They are very supportive especially as heads secretary's mum is our neighbour.
