Yay!

Congratulations to you all.

I would also like to say FUCK OFF to anyone who thinks poo accidents are because the child isn't ready. We had big problems with DD and it turns out she is lactose intolerant, which has solved everything.

It is more complicated for lots of kids, for lots of different reasons, and I wish the just put them back in nappies brigade would realise this and shut up.

Here endeth the rant.

JParkson · 18/03/2013 11:40

Thanks for all the supportive messages :) I've had a ridiculous amount of Hmm faces from my mum and quite a bit of pressure from my ILs saying I've left it too long, and she'll take ages to get the hang of it (but DMum has been very supportive)

And bran and losing may have my first given Biscuits :o because I'm a greedy cow and have only given them to myself in the past

haveappear DD freaked when she saw it, and insisted the potty was for wee... I shall wait with baited breath to see if she approaches it again!

Dd2 did her 1st poo in the potty at 18 months - looked at it, freaked out and wouldn't try again for another long year!

is what dd1 did she went a bit green as well Grin

BuntyCollocks · 18/03/2013 11:47

Thank you :)

WileyRoadRunner · 18/03/2013 11:52

I am very Envy DD2 is a nightmare, 3.9 dry for 18 months. Scraping poos out of pants for all that time.

I can understand your joy as I feel like the poo situation has consumed every waking moment of my life and I'm so fed up with it. Hope to be in your position soon!

Flobbadobs · 18/03/2013 11:54

We get to do all this again in the next 2 years or so with Dd2. Not bothering with the potty though, we're going to use a toilet seat with an inbuilt child seat, they're rather handy and easier to get them to sit on going off previous experience!

Cuddlydragon · 18/03/2013 12:01

Yippee. Well done! You know there are some really sour faced people on MN these days.

SomethingOnce · 18/03/2013 12:05

Bloody hell, Losing, are you a habitual parade-pisser or did you just get out of bed the wrong side this morning?

Well done, JPs DD!

AuroraAlfresco · 18/03/2013 12:09

Jesus Christ, Losing - kids have accidents!!

JParkson · 18/03/2013 12:11

Flobba, ditto and ditto!

DD2 is 7mo at the mo, so I'll have to do it all again in roughly 1-2 years. We tried the toilet seat first with DD1, but she really panicked with it (she's had a fear of heights in the past, not sure why) and she froze on it.

She was much more comfortable with the potty (although she thinks she needs my help getting on it). Maybe DD2 will be ok with the toilet seat one as she'll see me and DD1 using the toilet by then...

Do you know the really daft thing... our regular toilet seat had broken literally the week before I decided to start with DD1... we were looking for the seat with the in-built child bit, but I wasn't sure where to find them [thick emoticon]

JD we got ours from the manufacturer as we have a friend in the business but by the looks of it they're sold all over the place now (we originally got ours 10 years ago).
Be wary though if you haven't had one before, some of the seats are made of MDF and last about 6 months, although they have probably improved since we first got one.

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 18/03/2013 12:25

:o yay !!!

MrsPotato · 18/03/2013 12:35

Ooooooh well done well done little and big jp

I will NEVER forget the joy dd2's first poo on the loo gave me.

Neither will her granny as dd2 rang her landline and announced "I did a poo". She hung up and rang the police non-emergency number to report a perve phone call, oops!

JParkson · 18/03/2013 12:57

That's good to know Flobba, I'll keep an eye out. We have a cheap seat in place at the mo so I'd be surprised if it lasts till DD2 is ready...!

:o at Nanny Potato's crank call!

Not only was I as thrilled as you are when my son first achieved this (well done you and your DD!!) but he was too and carried his potty round showing it to everyone who called that day (I did flush it eventually, honest!) with my absolute 100% encouragement despite my trying to persauade him not to.

Cherish EVERY memory!!

Sallyingforth · 18/03/2013 14:36

I hope you won't be trying this, OP
