...to wonder if this is the new sticks-in-vases/pebbly shit craze?

I needed to do some deliveries this afternoon, and as the weather was quite nice, I decided to walk rather than take the car. As a result, I was able to take in my surroundings a little more carefully than usual.

Over the course of my approx. three mile walk, I swear I must have seen tens and tens of houses with hearts hanging up in windows, on doors and on gates. All made out of painted punched metal or wicker. They all seemed to be huge, maybe 30cm in diameter. Some of them were quite nice I suppose, but I couldn't help but wonder when I missed that particular memo.

Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon, or is it just my very middle class suburb of a fairly dull town?

Keep them - they'll come back round (see what I did there) in time.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 17/03/2013 22:11

I have three wicker balls of varying sizes.
I have a vase with sticks and a bowl with pebbly shite.
I have a feature wall.
I overuse magnolia and natural hessian paint.
I have a canvas of my children on the wall.

However I don't have a corner sofa (yet)

Manchesterhistorygirl · 17/03/2013 22:34

The north west IS NOT behind the times! I have a heart cushiony thing and my friend has wicker and wirey harts!

cocolepew · 17/03/2013 23:00

I've just realised I don't have a whicker heart. I have bell ones, velvet ones, wooden ones and metal ones.

I'll have to go shopping.

IAmSheWhoMustBeObeyed · 17/03/2013 23:08

I win i win i win!

eavesdropping · 18/03/2013 09:46

We had wicker hearts at our wedding reception last year. Realise that the whole shabby chic thing is a bit overdone now, but thought them far nicer than having tacky balloons

Eskino · 18/03/2013 09:52

No heart, pebbly, sticky candly shit but

I do have a badly stuffed weasel wearing a cowboy hat on my fireplace.

Maybe taxidermy will be the new thing and I'm so bloody fashion it hurts

mrsjay · 18/03/2013 09:54

my mums got rid of her pebbles and 'stuff' to get wicker hanging things they are in her kitchen and hall, im too lazy to keep up with any trends Blush

Sugarice · 18/03/2013 09:57

I love heart shaped stuff, particularly jewellry with heart pendants, not much around the house though, might start now I've read this Grin. I love star shaped stuff too, I have star shaped fairy lights draped over stick shit in my hall.

Dead classy me! Wink

freddiefrog · 18/03/2013 09:59

I'm going to have to go shopping. I have no twigs in vases, no bunting, no wicker hearts (or anything heart shaped in fact) and the only pebbles in our house are DD2's prized possessions and kept in a Quality Street tin under her bed

I do have a wooden lighthouse in the bathroom and a model yacht on the landing window sill - I think yachts and lighthouses are my area's equivalent of twigs and wicker hearts

Feminine · 18/03/2013 09:59

I've had this 'style' before it was trendy.

I have shabby/ cottage style taste.

Its so easy these days... Grin

BrainSurgeon · 18/03/2013 10:02

Grin Eskino

I got given a wicker heart once.... Really struggled to find a place for it... It ended up hanging on a random nail above our toilet loo

Manchesterhistorygirl · 18/03/2013 10:25

Eskino I think you may actually be a hipster.

FairPhyllis · 18/03/2013 18:46
