Because if you think telling me what you do for a job is going to change my mind over a decision that reflects company policy then you are, frankly, wrong.

I hate it.

Why should it matter what you do for a job? It holds no sway. A decision has been made. Deal with it.

Aibu to think if you try to use your job to change a decision, more so when youre in the wrong, you are a knob

I'm guessing this is a take on the age old "don't you know who I am?" drama?

HamAlive · 16/03/2013 20:58

Riiiiiiight...

Couldonlyhappentome · 16/03/2013 20:58

You ask for help, you aren't eligible for help so you say 'I'm an mp don't you know' in an effort to get help despite not being eligible for it

Or

You get a speeding ticket 'I'm a footballer nudge nudge' in an expectation to get it overturned

That makes no sense to me. Have I had too much wine?

SirChenjin · 16/03/2013 20:59

Crikey - I have no idea whether YABU or not Confused

JaquelineHyde · 16/03/2013 20:59

I have no idea what you are talking about so can't comment on whether YABU or not.

You got a parking ticket - but you're an ambulance driver on an emergency call?

But yes, in general I would agree that if you say 'But I'm somehow special because of what I do' you are a bit of a knob.

oh I see what you mean YANBU.

I do love it when I get to earwig on someone trying it and been very politely told that no-one cares!

NuhichNuhaymuh · 16/03/2013 21:03

I don't know. You tell me, well depending on your job of course

expatinscotland · 16/03/2013 21:04

I either need some wine, or you need less OP!

ShipwreckedAndComatose · 16/03/2013 21:09

It's ok, I'm a teacher!!

No, wait.... That won't change your mind...dang!

Wine up op!

Annunziata · 16/03/2013 21:11

Is it bad I completely understand this?

For example: shop is closed. Shutters are down. Twat bangs on the shutters, starts yelling abuse 'Don't you know I work for X?'

Nope. And I don't care either.

YANBU!

yousankmybattleship · 16/03/2013 21:12

OP, please lay off the caffeine/wine/sugar.

Salmotrutta · 16/03/2013 21:16

All you have to do is read the OPs second post where she/he explains a bit more.

Easy - and YANBU at all OP.

People trying to get preferential treatment because of their "position" is very nobbish.

IneedAsockamnesty · 16/03/2013 21:29

I expect to get preference because of my job but only within the confines of my work building.

deleted203 · 17/03/2013 01:31

Oooh...yes, sock. I expect if I dash into the staff loo at work in between lessons then the budget lady will let me wee first - cos I've got 30 year 9s pratting about in the corridor waiting for me - and she's got a calculator sitting there looking at her. (And it won't start banging on other classroom doors and making faces at the people inside). Is that it?

ChaoticisasChaoticdoes · 17/03/2013 08:54

I understand YANBU
