Hunting and wearing fur.
[They will come to get me. Soon.]
[I don't care]

Charliefarlie1192 · 14/03/2013 15:12

Hunting? Seriously?

rollmopses · 14/03/2013 15:15

I love venison etc. Can't eat them whilst they are still traipsing about, you see.

Charliefarlie1192 · 14/03/2013 15:17

Sorry, had fox hunting in my head there

Mitchy1nge · 14/03/2013 15:21

i don't even hunt (would if horse could behave a bit normally) but I feel defensive when it is criticised even while I know it is a hard one to defend

maybe am just immature and like feeling naughty?

Do you just like playing Devil's advocate?

Mitchy1nge · 14/03/2013 15:27

as usual is nice to know one is not going through it alone though Grin

"but I feel defensive when it is criticised even while I know it is a hard one to defend"
I'm not really following you. Are you defending because you feel is an OK thing to do, or something else? Because saying 'it is a hard one to defend' implies to me that it actually has no defence (or you would use that defence).

Mitchy1nge · 14/03/2013 15:33

I don't know

probabky need some new hobbies, feel excessively virtually chatty today

Ooooh I love venison. And smoking which I can't bloody do as pregnant. I have never worn fur though although that may be due to finances rather than morals!

KellyElly · 14/03/2013 15:55

Smoking is for your enjoyment but just killing you so I have no problem with that. Getting enjoyment out of killing animals, now that I have a problem with.

wildfig · 14/03/2013 16:03

I think the reason I get defensive about 'indefensible' things is that often you feel that the argument's being directed at you personally - eg, 'Idiots who drive 4x4s are selfish, arrogant planet-killers' rather than '4x4s aren't very eco-friendly'.

CloudsAndTrees · 14/03/2013 16:06

Why would you need to defend smoking? There are some things that you don't have to justify, you are an adult that is allowed to make your own choices.

50BalesOfHay · 14/03/2013 16:08

Hunting, smoking, bunking off work to have noisy afternoon sex and getting drunk are pleasures that I am defensively loyal about (although too wimpy to actually hunt and need a snooze in the afternoon)

Pigsmummy · 14/03/2013 17:17

Gin

I don't have a problem with fur per se, but I do with the way it is farmed. Cotton is horrendous for the environment and kills more animals (and humans) but I don't see anyone weeping about that.

Smoking, couldn't really give a shite either way. I do think it's an irresponsible thing to do excessively if you have kids though.

Hunting I just don't get. I mean, hunting stuff like deer, yeah, I guess I do. At least the animal has had an ok life. Hunting foxes, no, it is totally pointless. I think it's pretty hypocritical to be a meat eater and be against hunting animals for food.

4x4s are just silly. People driving them in the city look silly, but if it makes them happy, whatever. In the country, sure, whatever. I mean the actual country, like in Scotland and Wales, not the Cotswolds.

None of those things really impact on my life, but one thing that does a bit is cocaine. A lot of people I know do it and it is very odd because it is completely indefensible really. I used to work with Colombians and they were utterly disgusted by the number of people in London on coke. For them, it was just a massive taboo and they would never take it. I don't take it either, but I know a lot of otherwise right on people who don't think twice about it, but turn their noses (arf) up at non fair trade coffee.
