Is ridiculous.
Saw a coat in a nearly new store. Couldn't believe the price or aibu.

I had a pre-move clear-out recently and took lots of stuff to our local Barnado's. Some of the stuff went out the door while I was still there (I advised the buyer!), and I was a bit sad to see how low it had been priced (£3.99 for a jumperoo sort of thing, IIRC), but it was immediate money for the charity and proof for me that they weren't skimming stock!

Think i remember nct saying somewhere that nearly new should be 25% of new price. May be wrong.

I think should be 30% of full sale price if it's in decent condition. Tops.

I used to work for my local hospice charity shop when I lived in Enfield.

Things that were priced too high wouldn't sell which would mean the shop would close, so obviously the prices other posters are complaining about are acceptable to others in their area. Sad but true.

RenterNomad it's obvious from the silly low price for your jumperoo that the person doing the pricing on that day had no clue what baby things are worth.

that happens a lot, inexperience at selling certain things means wrong pricing.

I agree that the shop staff are often clueless. They have no idea, for example, that "Atmosphere" means Primark. If they themselves shop in M&S or department stores they have no experience of throwaway fashion. Otoh last week I bought ds a JohnnieB shirt for £1.50 because the person who'd priced it clearly didn't know that it was teenage Boden.

Similarly I grind my teeth when the staff have clearly looked on Ebay and priced accordingly. Ebay has a potentially worldwide customer base, but a charity shop only has that of the local area. The chance of a person walking in who wants to spend £50 on a certain out-of-print book is very small.
