To want my wages? How long would you wait?

I work in a small organisation with a very inefficient administrator.

My wages were considerably underpaid for January (genuine mistake in addition on the part of admin).
The administrator said she would add the amount (not disputed) due to my wages for February.
In spite of repeated reminders, she forgot to do this. fgs.

I have had no apology, just 'What do you want me to do?'
I said I wanted the amount owed this month. She said she would speak to the accountant who writes the cheques.
That was a week ago and I have heard nothing.

How long would you wait, and what would you say? I am furious tbh and don't want her now saying I am harassing her or some such.
It's nearly the middle of March, I have to wait for the cheque to clear if I ever get it, I earnt this money in January.

The whole BACS thing is rubbish banks now charge less for a BACS transfer than they do for issuing a cheque as banks want a move away from cheques. I would strongly suspect poor cash flow at the very least in this situation.

You should put your request in writing as everyone else has suggested.

If the administrator is 'ill' go straight over her head. TBH she ought to be sacked for this, if it's down to her incompetence and laziness. Even if she has personal problems, it's not your problem and you shouldn't have to suffer for it.

I'm involved with a charity and the bank didn't allow bacs payments. We moved to another one but it took time and was a faff.

But that's no excuse for not issuing with a cheque asap. Perhaps it's the boss who can't be arsed leaving your colleague to have to deal with you. Or they're a right jobsworth.
