To find my boss picking his ear then sniffing his fingers repulsive?

Hes very senior but young ish. He's talented, very capable, risen through the ranks quickly, well thought of and professional. But.....throughout every meeting, he's always got his finger buried in his ear, which he then pulls out, examines and surreptitiously sniffs. Its repulsive and i feel like saying something but how would that conversation go? S'cuse me gov but would you mind not picking your ear and sniffing it cos I fear I may be sick on the boardroom table.

I mean, if not the bin, where the fuck should someone dispose of a sanitary towel?

SugarMouse1 · 12/03/2013 21:45

MsVestible-

Would you put one in a friends bathroom bin?

Charliefox · 12/03/2013 22:03

I responded to your Q about towels in the bin Sugar.

Maybe you could take the approach of a loud conversation with someone else at your desk where you both talk about the kinds of personal habits which make you hurl. He will assume that you haven't seen him do it (as surely you'd never bring it up if you had!) and might think twice about doing it in the future.

You could just stop talking in any meeting and wait for him to finish. If he questions it then say - "oh, you looked as though your ear was blocked so I was waiting until you could hear me again". It will only take a few times (and maybe coach your colleagues too) until he starts thinking about what he's doing each time you say that.

Alternatively, just bring in some cotton buds and hand them over each time he starts. Grin

I reckon I'll just go for a good old avoidance tactic and try and sit somewhere I can't see him so easily!

Ah, but you'll still hear the sniff...
