The snow has on obviously hit the south of England,,so what?..Scottish east coat, not a single flake,,why can't we have endless reports on that? Who cares if the south east is closed?

We're all still white in Edinburgh after a good few cms fell and it was blizzarding yesterday - nothing ground to a halt though.

crashdoll · 12/03/2013 18:57

Well, those on the south east cost probably care if it's closed.

ilovepowerhoop · 12/03/2013 19:15

we had snow here in Scotland - 25ish miles away from Glasgow. No schools were closed here but the neighbouring authority had several schools shut due to snow.

Snow in Durham.

Mumofthreeteens · 12/03/2013 20:34

Hillbilly parts of the country have been severlely affected by this heavy snow. People commute all over the country and even bizzarely try and travel abroad therefore everyone should be aware of disruptions caused by adverse weather conditions. The Channel Islands have had the worst blizzards since 1979 yet barely get mentioned on either British or French news. People in Sussex have been stuck in their cars overnight with no doubt zero provisions, warmth and food, the eurostar and channel tunnel have been suspended due to horrendous conditions in France and northern Europe with barely a mention on all the news channels but when snow affects the airports that is all they talk about. My Dh was lucky enough his TGV arrived only 2 hours late for his meeting in Paris earlier today. op sorry but yrabu just because it isn't affecting you.

When the main roads get blocked or closed here,,I doubt very much it is the main topic of your news for days on end,I also doubt you show"concern" for us..Why can't it be just on the South of Potters Bar news as suggested before? My Russian DIL just laughs,,it is still -40,,in Vladivostok, they only thought about closing her school when the snow came up to her shoulders,,daily life continues,,it is Winter,,,bad weather happens but some areas of the country remain totally unprepared despite advance warnings

op don't watch the news or listen to the radio and then you will remain blissfully unaware of the difficulties that people are experiencing.

I meanwhile feel great sympathy for those who have been stuck on the A1 in the Somme for the last 30 hours as well as the chaos for travellers and other folk trying to get to and from work in northern Europe. It doesn't affect me, I live in the mountains, the sun is shining and when it snows it is cleared quickly. Tell us where you live and next time maybe we can feel sorry for you or maybe not!

TheNebulousBoojum · 13/03/2013 08:51

Population dynamics, the entire population of Scotland is around 5 million isn't it?
We've got around 8.5 million. It's also causing a lot of problems with links to the continent, and that affects imports/exports as well as the regular travellers.

TheNebulousBoojum · 13/03/2013 09:05

The snow in the SE England isn't mentioned on the BBC News for Scotland site.
Stick to The Daily Record and you should be fine.

Fakebook · 13/03/2013 09:07

What snow? We had a small flurry on Monday afternoon. A small flurry yesterday and now the sun is shining and we have blue skies.

Eskino · 13/03/2013 09:22

Really, you could say that about anything. Schoolchildren being gunned down in America? So what? it doesn't affect me*

It's about having a bit of sympathy for the hardships others are going through.

I actually think that's the one thing that the news is good for.

*Obviously disproportionate analogy for descriptive purposes.

nokidshere · 13/03/2013 09:27

I would be very bemused if the news spent time saying "there is no snow in Wiltshire today" - what a bizarre thread. So you have no snow? Then there is nothing to report is there?
