That's it really.

And yep, I'm judgin.

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 12/03/2013 15:13

I would agree with that statement.

Judge away!

mummymeister · 12/03/2013 15:14

If the facebook page is in the child's name then they have lied to facebook to get it as she is too young. I know loads of kids have them younger than 13 but mine dont and i feel very judgy about it tbh. Report it to facebook if you feel strongly enough.

Suesue22 · 12/03/2013 15:14

All I can say is YES. Who in their right mind would do this??

thezebrawearspurple · 12/03/2013 15:15

Agree.

OKnotOK · 12/03/2013 15:15

No, it not unreasonable.

Yes your right to judge...and so am i.

What kind of tool does that!!? Hmm

aldiwhore · 12/03/2013 15:17

Depends on the privacy settings and whether the child is ever allowed to use the page unsupervised.

I am itching to say YANBU.

But I'm thinking that not everyone gets Facebook and all it entails. If the 5 year old's 'friends' are Granny, Grandpa, uncle, Aunt etc., then maybe it's more of a gimmick than actuall active page.

I'm still not overly comfortable with it and it is against the rules.

So I suppose YANBU after all Smile

HarrietSchulenberg · 12/03/2013 15:18

Snigger. O but it's to help with his spelling, reading and social skills.
My friend's cat has his own FB page and I'm sure he finds it about as entertaining as a 5 year old would.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 12/03/2013 15:18

Even I would judge at this. Why would anyone let their young child onto fb?? I am pretty relaxed about a lot of things but I think it is just ridiculous.

WilsonFrickett · 12/03/2013 15:23

Oh yeah, I know one of these.

And I judged. Big time.

I also had a conversation where the mum was cross I wouldn't accept the child's friend request.

Judgy pants so high I'm giving myself a blister.

NotQuiteWithItAtAll · 12/03/2013 15:23

I know a mother who has set her 3 year old up with one. Obviously the mum writes all the status updates on behalf of the child. She broke up with her partner this one time, and the 3 year old's status was always something on the lines of, i miss you daddy, please come home. With his name tagged in it.

The mother uses Facebook like it's a bloody diary!
The dog probably has one too.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 12/03/2013 15:25

I actually do know a dog who has his own facebook page. And he rejected my request.....the shame of it :)

eosmum · 12/03/2013 15:25

YANBU, looking at my (D)sis, who set one up for my niece when she was just three and is proud of the fact she has 500 friends, she's only six now. But then her two dogs also have one.

AMumInScotland · 12/03/2013 15:26

I'd hope that a 5yo wasn't getting to use it unsupervised. But the problem is when they are 8/9/10... and they know how to use it themself and don't see any reason why they shouldn't be on there unsupervised. And you can't turn round and suddenly say no, when you let them on there at 5...

Whereas if you say no at 5, you can keep on saying no at 10 or 12.

eosmum · 12/03/2013 15:27

OMG Betty rejected by a dog, hang your head in shame.

squeakytoy · 12/03/2013 15:28

my dog has a facebook page... only because I needed him to play Farmville to help me out!

the mutt has more friends than me!

GooseyLoosey · 12/03/2013 15:30

Yes, you are right. Only an idiot would let a 5 year old have a facebook page.

MortifiedAdams · 12/03/2013 15:32

Agree OP.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 12/03/2013 15:34

Eos I am believe me. I only requested his friendship because I wanted to see his extensive coat collection my mate told me about!!

I could have played words with friends with him too!!!!

BegoniaBampot · 12/03/2013 15:35

I could see if it was to keep in touch with family who live far away etc. might be nice for the child to get messages and keep family updated with what they are doing and photos etc. Other than that, no Wouldn't let mine have an accountant they are older.

McPheetStink · 12/03/2013 15:35

I know a mother whose 4 year old and 8 month old have their own page Hmm

She is a bit odd though, and oh, yep, I have a wedgie from my pants.

crashdoll · 12/03/2013 15:35

Betty I'm sure the dog didn't mean to reject you. He probably hit the wrong button with his paw. YABU for being dog-ist and not understanding this! Grin

fluffyraggies · 12/03/2013 15:39

Oh OP, glad it's not just me. YANBU

My SIL has a page for both her sons - one's 5 and ones 5 months Hmm

yawn yawn yawn

Sorry, but i'm sick of hearing about face book, and sick about being asked why i'm no on it. So is DH.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 12/03/2013 15:40

Crash - I bear no grudge to poor old Wiglet.......he doesn't know me and his mummy probably told him not to accept people he doesn't know :)

ChocolateCoins · 12/03/2013 15:43

I knew someone that made a fb page for their unborn baby. Hmm

All scan pictures were tagged and had status's that consisted of 'only x weeks til I can meet my beautiful mummy!'

She was only 18, but still, it's a bit weird. I hope I didn't offend 'mummys little prince' too much when I rejected his friend request...

somewhereaclockisticking · 12/03/2013 15:52

I'm half and half. I think if the privacy settings are right then it could be nice for the child to just play the games on there but then whoever that child is allowed to have as friends (grandma, mum, dad etc) will have to bear in mind that anything they post on their wall can then be viewed by their child.
