Have I become a miserable old git or is this just sick?

I find it hard to believe that many true feminists would advocate such wear.

Doesn't bother me one bit... Wouldn't wear one because I would feel like a twat in a slogan top BUT what it reads doesn't offend me or make me cheer that someone else agrees?

NotADragonOfSoup · 12/03/2013 12:19

I wonder how light hearted and funny it would be seen as had it been a man wearing it with the slogan referencing women.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 12/03/2013 12:50

I was waiting for someone to say that.

I just see it as Not Funny.

Tweasels · 12/03/2013 12:55

It's not funny - slogan T-shirts never are.

The lack of understanding about what feminism means is more disturbing.

MiniTheMinx · 12/03/2013 13:01

I was of course joking up thread. Women are subjected to casual and intended sexism everyday the world over.......in the scheme of things this T-shirt is really not a huge problem.

Punkatheart · 12/03/2013 13:07

Billions of men, why animal test? I must be the thickest person in thicko street, in thicko town...but I don't get it.....

Also all animal testing has now been banned from today! Hoorah!

BinarySolo · 12/03/2013 13:18

Not all animal testing. Just for cosmetics isn't it. Bloody good start tho.

MiniTheMinx · 12/03/2013 13:25

Has it really been banned? haven't seen this in the news

ubik · 12/03/2013 13:27

I thought you were talking about the Daily Mail website

BinarySolo · 12/03/2013 13:30

EU animal testing ban

MisselthwaiteManor · 12/03/2013 13:33

I hadn't heard about the ban either, thanks for the link.
Hoorah indeed Smile

ICBINEG · 12/03/2013 13:36

Yay to cosmetics ban.

More worried about talk of total ban. Given a choice between testing a new drug on my DD or a mouse, I am still voting mouse.

Mugofteaforme · 12/03/2013 13:46

Great to hear about the ban!

OP posts:
MiniTheMinx · 12/03/2013 13:47

Thanks for the link

Hooray to the ban, fab news.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 12/03/2013 18:27

Of course it's not funny. Or feminist.

HTH.

WhatsTheBuzz · 12/03/2013 19:56

pretend
all you like, if this was sexism against women, lighthearted or not,
there would be outraged responses. I've never come across so many
man-haters in one place Smile.

FloraFox · 12/03/2013 20:00

Yes it's sick

"I find it hard to believe that many true feminists would advocate such wear."

They're not.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 12/03/2013 20:04

Personally speaking I am a feminist. I'm not a man hater. Feminism doesn't mean man-hating. I don't think that T shirt is funny. I don't find violence against anyone acceptable.

There. How clear can I be?

WhatsTheBuzz · 12/03/2013 20:07

I know that feminism isn't man-hating. I do read an awful lot of anti-man stuff on here though.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 12/03/2013 20:10

Could you be more specific? Because if you're referring to the relationships section then yes, you would. And if you mean "anti man" as in someone asking advice in Chat for how to deal with a partner who refuses to do help round the house, or share the childcare for example, then maybe yes you do read anti man stuff on here.

I know MrsDV. Anyone would think that being a feminist involved....you know....hating all men or something Confused

Tanith · 12/03/2013 20:26

I don't find it funny, but neither do I personally find it offensive: I'm not a man and it's not aimed at me.

I would understand if my husband was offended and I would support his decision if he decided to complain about it.
I will not complain on his behalf because I feel he should be offended: that would be patronising and officious.

NotADragonOfSoup · 12/03/2013 21:15

Does that somehow make it OK?
