to think "inspirational" photos on Facebook are cringey?

The type that say -

"Every man needs a woman when his life is a mess, because just like in a game of chess; the Queen protects the King"

"We never lose friends, we simply learn who the real ones are"

"That pregnant girl you called a slag, has been raped. The guy you called lame because he don't chill with you works hard to support his family. The girl you pushed over the other day already gets abused at home."

I just find them quite cringey and don't think certain ones actually raise awareness. Or perhaps I'm just cynical?

Nope. I hate them too

DevonCiderPunk · 11/03/2013 17:38

YANBU

however about 1 in 100 will make me tear up...

YouCantTeuchThis · 11/03/2013 17:39

meh.

Some I like, some I don't. Can't be bothered to summon up the effort to actually care though.

If someone constantly posts nnoying ones, I hide or de-friend.

Tee2072 · 11/03/2013 17:41

Some of them I like. Some of them are horrible.

piprabbit · 11/03/2013 17:42

I like some - Action for Happiness does some lovely ones. But others make me want to defriend people.

sooperdooper · 11/03/2013 17:42

Can't stand them, most are semtimental claptrap

miseyguts

gordyslovesheep · 11/03/2013 17:49

yanbu - you missed out the whole 'share this otherwise you kick puppies for fun' thing

BegoniaBampot · 11/03/2013 18:07

Had one the other day about bullying, guilt tripping people into reposting saying that " 50% won't repost but they are sure those with a heart will" - PUKE. Or those where you have to send some message to 20 of your friends to say you love them or it will mean that you don't - PUKE!

SamuelWestsMistress · 11/03/2013 18:08

Awful. People who share these things are silly.

MrsBertMacklin · 11/03/2013 18:10

YANBU - every one I've seen so far contains nothing more than a sentimental platitude. I hide photo updates from the people who constantly post them.

woopsidaisy · 11/03/2013 18:10

A friend of mine does this, but she is just coming out of years of severe depression and mental illness. I cant stand them, but she has just got to the stage where she is using computers again, so I would never say anything.
I inwardly shriek though!

OhDearieDearieMe · 11/03/2013 18:11

Dreadful. And some people, when they hit on a type that clearly pleases them, post again and again and again until the poor reader turns puce, throws up and collapses in a heap of sobbing post-ironic ectoplasm. Or something. I just hide them on sight but my eyeballs are very fit from all the rolling that gets done.

Beamae · 11/03/2013 18:11

Ugh. I can't bear them! I have quite a few people hidden from my feed for constantly posting that type of thing. If you are so busy living the life you love and loving the life you live then stop wasting time on Facebook and do it, for crying out loud.

BegoniaBampot · 11/03/2013 18:13

Had to hide a few people that keep posting is crap.

SmiteYouWithThunderbolts · 11/03/2013 18:14

I hate, hate, hate them and have hidden around a quarter of my friends for sharing them multiple times a day.

However, I am partial to the odd Lolcat or sarcastic meme, particularly the I Fucking Love Science ones.

mortifieddotcom · 11/03/2013 19:12

I despite them with an absolute passion. Why oh why do people share them?

Goldrill · 11/03/2013 19:20

YANBU - absolutely twaddle. Some of the nicest people do it too, which is a shame as I find it hard to resist sarky replies.

I fucking love science is a wonderful thing. Also newsthump.

Bridgetbidet · 11/03/2013 20:05

Yep, and the woman who posts them on my wall the most is a monumental bullying bitch. Bit hypocritical if you ask me...
