to find the term "frape" offensive?

I know this isn't exactly a new term.

But a friend of mine had a status on Facebook announcing a pregnancy. Lots of people commenting saying congratulations, when your due date etc.

She then put another status up saying - Sorry guys I got fraped.

Lots of people saying how funny it was.

Maybe I have no sense of humour but I just don't like the term "frape" and how acceptable people seem to find it.

YANBU I hate that term to it makes me cringe.

CasperGutman · 11/03/2013 16:43

YANBU.

Cydonia · 11/03/2013 16:44

YANBU it makes me shudder too.

midastouch · 11/03/2013 16:45

YANBU. I dont find it funny, i hate it!!!

Yannah2006 · 11/03/2013 16:45

Yep, hate it, just think it's really vulgar.

GeorgianMumto5 · 11/03/2013 16:48

Yanbu. I won't use it. I feel it makes light of the term 'rape'.

What a horrible trick someone played on your poor friend, too!

Magimedi · 11/03/2013 16:55

YANBU

But YABU to be on Facebook - 'tis the work of the devil!

Trills · 11/03/2013 16:58

YANBU - it is very unpleasant, and you would NBU to reply to every post of it with "actually I don't find it funny to compare someone posting on Facebook without your permission to rape".

(you will get accused of being terribly boring and literal, but it's still not unreasonable)

Inthebeginning · 11/03/2013 16:59

Yanbu I think it is really unaceptable word to use.
My dh thought you pronounced it "frap" though which did make me smile :)

mum47 · 11/03/2013 17:00

YANBU, it is offensive and does make light of the term rape. Especially don't like it when used by younger FB users.

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 11/03/2013 17:00

It is horrible and I am so, so judgy about people who say it.

tintin1969 · 11/03/2013 17:01

Yeh, it is offensive. stupid and thoughtless too

RuePrimKatniss · 11/03/2013 17:03

Especially don't like it when used by younger FB users.

See it's the opposite for me.

I would find an older and more mature person using it a lot more Hmm

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 11/03/2013 17:04

I find it offensive too, it never ceases to amaze me how many people use the term.

Fluffy1234 · 11/03/2013 17:04

I thought it was one of those posh cold coffees when I first heard the word.

EnjoyResponsibly · 11/03/2013 17:05

I don't understand it, what does it mean?

mum47 · 11/03/2013 17:06

Yes fair point Rue, I suppose a younger person may not give too much thought about it, it is probably just part of their "computer language" these days, but an older person should be more aware of the way it could be received by others.
Bottom line, it is offensive whoever uses it.

Wolfiefan · 11/03/2013 17:06

Me neither. (Yet another reason I don't do fb!)

DuchessFanny · 11/03/2013 17:09

Good, glad i'm not the only one who cringes every time this term is posted !

LoversThatWentWrong · 11/03/2013 17:09

EnjoyResponsibly

It's combining the words Facebook and Rape = Frape.

When someone goes onto your Facebook account without your knowledge and writes a "funny" status.

ZZZenAgain · 11/03/2013 17:09

apparently it is from facebook (f) and rape -) frape

EnjoyResponsibly · 11/03/2013 17:10

Oh. Charming Sad

KellyElly · 11/03/2013 17:17

YANBU

flippinada · 11/03/2013 17:21

YANBU. Horrible term.

Although handy as shorthand for identifying people to avoid.

MunchkinsMumof2 · 11/03/2013 17:22

Yanbu, it is an offensive term and minimises the trauma of rape. I hate it.
