to have two gallery walls in one room?

Or more specifically, would it look shit?

The walls are adjacent. On one wall there are two doors at either end and a sofa in the middle. The other wall just has a table and chairs in the middle. I have already got a 'gallery wall' above the sofa but I have so many other pieces of art and knick knacks I love and want to display, I am contemplating another one above the table, to fill roughly the same amount of space on the wall as the already-existing one does, so that there is a bit of mirroring going on.

If you are not a Pinterest addict like me, it's something a bit like this: ourhumbleabodeblog.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/bird-gallery-wall-and-bench.jpg

We do a lot of this too! I think it would be fine as long as the room isn't tiny and there isn't a busy wallpaper or anything.

It's a big room painted in a very pale mushroom colour. The chimney breast is sage green. I think it would look good but I don't want overkill. I really like this way of displaying art, I studied curating as part of my degree and I am in my element when laying it all out and playing around with the configuration of the images etc!

Is a gallery wall the new 'feature wall?' Wink

It's your house - do whatever you like if it makes you happy OP!

squeakytoy · 11/03/2013 12:39

I would say it looks too cluttered but its your home to do as you wish in. :)

Absolutely, valium. Grin

It could look too cluttered, it's in a playroom-cum-dining room so I was hoping it might balance out DS's mess?!

I have seen lots of blog posts on gallery walls! I am not sure why anyone would blog about it but as a compromise, if I do it I will post photos on MN. Wink

I love looking at other people's collections, do it! You can always take them down if it's a bit much.

TroublesomeEx · 11/03/2013 13:05

Do what you want. It's your house. Smile

Pandemoniaa · 11/03/2013 13:08

I hadn't realised that the simple act of hanging stuff on the wall had now turned into a "Gallery Wall" but my advice is still the same, regardless of the poncy title - hang what you like, where you like. It is your house.

freddiefrog · 11/03/2013 13:16

I've got a couple of walls like that in my house. 1 in the living room and another in the dining room. I love them, but I think 2 in one room may be a bit much

Stick 'em up, if you don't like it, take 'em down.

MissMogwi · 11/03/2013 13:19

If the room is big enough then I think it will look good. And if isn't, so what it's your house. Grin

MeerkatMerkin · 11/03/2013 20:18

It has indeed, Pandemonia, just as the humble single wallpapered wall got its name before, the gods of ponce created The Gallery Wall and it was good, then they said "go forth and collage!" and so we did. Then they said "and now you must blog about it" - and those that blogged enjoyed full, happy lives with their Gallery Walls, and those that didn't were struck down and forced to live in a blank-walled, blank-blogged hellhole for the rest of their days.

I'm still weighing up my options. Grin

Just fancied a few opinions as I'm being annoyingly indecisive and poor DH has been standing there with the drill in his hand for a week now waiting for me to make up my mind.

Do it. Display the things you love. It will look fabulous.

GrendelsMum · 11/03/2013 20:47

Will it fill you with pleasure each time you look at it?

then do it.
