To think that if you find someone's phone, you hand it in. Not keep it.

Pah. My own stupid fault, I must have dropped my iPhone in Tesco at the checkout, whilst juggling screaming toddlers and my purse, and I didn't realise until I got home that I didn't have it. Called it, it rang, nobody answered, not in the house, the car or the freezer (it's happened once). Called again, it rang. Called again, it went to voicemail. So I drove back to Tesco and nothing handed in. Called it again, still turned off, went to locate my iPhone, and it's not active. It had a full battery this morning, so someone has turned it off. Arsebiscuits. So basically someone has found my phone and decided it's their lucky day yes?

It's my own fault for not being more careful, and I'll only have to pay the excess on my insurance, not the full cost, so it's lucky in that sense. But I'm a bit narked about it. If I find a phone, or a wallet or a kid's shoe in a shop, I hand it in. So does everyone I know. Who the hell doesn't.

Many moons ago hubby found a mobile.. they werent as comon then and we assumed it was being used by someone for work.. we were on our way home from the pub.

We called the police and told them where we had found it etc and told them if someone was looking for it we would hand it in tomorrow

I called "home" told the guy I had his phone and would take it down to the police in the morning as we didnt want to give a stranger our address

Guy calls the police on the off chance and the police gave him our name and address Shock

he turned up at our door 8am next day with a box of chocs and a bottle of whisky

Sorry, but I lost all sympathy when you tagged the wrong person as the fucker in your last post.

Look closer to home than the poor delivery guy who turned up to abuse from your husband.

I found it a handy way to identify who to "defriend" on facebook a while back when an old infant scgool "friend" posted about finding an iphone on the bus and a whole raft of other "friends" commented on how lucky she was, offered suggestions on where to get it unlocked etc.
Of course you hand it in/call "mum" on it or wait for it to ring to arrange to hand it back. I have done this twice and fortunately when DS left his phone on the train, the person who picked it up when he rang did the same. To do otherwise is just to be a thieving little cunt.

One time I got off the train and, as it was pulling away. I realized my bag, complete with iPad, was still onboard. I spoke to the station staff and gave them my details.

I was on my way home when the station called to say that my bag had been handed in at the next stop. I did a u turn and was shortly reunited with my bag and all of its contents.

Another time I left the same bag hanging on the supermarket trolley and proceeded to drive home. A few hours later Sainsbury customer service desk called to say they had my bag. I didnt even realize that I had lost it. Apparently they phoned the number on my cellphone invoice that was in the bag.

I won't bore people with similar anecdotes but I like to think that the majority of people are honest.

I have twice found phones and reunited them with their owners. I cannot stand people who say "finders keepers". Twats.

Yes, I've had a purse full of cash and cards returned and a monthly rail season ticket, among other things.
