I am 52, healthy, just come out of the other side of the menopause, no hot flushes/mood swings or any of the common menopausal problems, the only adverse symptom i have is thinning hair. Not on HRT,Thyroid tests normal, guess it is hormonal..........any thoughts x

Im losing mine due to chronic stress and depression. used to have the thickest mane of hair going.

Im starting to look like a Klingon. (complete with worry lines).

I can't wash and style own hair so have a hairdresser friend who does it for me and shes shocked at the amount of hair i lose when its being washed.

no thickening shampoos/GP recommendations work.

wig shops here i come. and im in mid/late 40's. not menopauseing yet.

dont know what to say why yours is thinning. OP

I went to the drs with this being one of a list of symptoms, and she suggested low eostrogen, put me on hrt, then antidepresants. I had blood tests and they came back as normal.

I was pushed full pelt into the menopause at 45 owing to treatment for breast cancer. I lost my hair but it grew back a lot thinner - not thick and curly like many women's hair does - due to a combination of the menopause and drugs I was on. I've tried a lot of shampoos etc but not really stuck with any one - although I know people who swear by Nioxin (think Amazon sell it). Think it is marketed as stimulating the hair follicles. Some women are lucky, I have a friend whose hair remains thicker than ever post menopause.

OP - a trip to the hairdressers for a mixture of highlights and lowlights will make hair look thicker and you feel better.
