To think this bloke shouldn't have pushed in front of me at the ATM?

I'm queuing for the ATM. I don't like taking my purse out my bag until its my turn as concerned over been mugged, etc.

Person infront finishes and I step up. Put my hand in my bag to get my purse and a bloke comes round the corner and says "if you're not ready I'll go" and squeezes between me and the machine.

I wasn't faffing around for ages getting my purse, only got a small handbag. And if he'd waited 5 seconds I'd have been putting my card in.

Of course I then have to wait for him. Which annoyed me and I sarcastically said to dd that now we'd have to wait again as someone else had decided to go infront of me. He then turns round and sarcastically thanks me for been patient.

Mmm yes, same to you.

I know it's not a huge problem in the grand scheme of things but just thought it was quite rude of him. Though maybe been a burly bloke he doesn't consider that women might not want to get their purse out till the last minute so maybe he just thought I was been mega annoying for not having my purse in my hand.

He's a twat. A rude twat.

Sparklingbrook · 09/03/2013 18:14

People are rude, and impatient. Sweeping statement but men tend to be worse IMO.
Didn't matter if you were ready or not, you were next. Angry

BoundandRebound · 09/03/2013 18:14

Maybe you should have stuck up for yourself and said something to him?

VivaLeBeaver · 09/03/2013 18:16

I probably should have said something I was so surprised and thought for a minute maybe I was been unreasonable as I wasn't ready.

By the time I thought it through and that actually he was been a twat he had his card in.

You can't though Bound, that's asking for trouble sadly.

Wishfulmakeupping · 09/03/2013 18:18

What a total knob

WowOoo · 09/03/2013 18:22

You should have said something as long as there were other people around.
Only you can judge how safe or risky this could be.

I might have said 'excuse me, you can wait your turn'...But then I might have been punched in the face!

Forget it, you are nice and he's a waste of space twat.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 09/03/2013 18:23

Probably best that you didnt say anything. Who knows what he might have done. He sounds vile.

I hate when people jump queues. Its the one thing that makes me want to stamp my feet and throw myself on the floor shouting "Its not faaaaaiiiiirrrrr!!!"

GozerTheGozerian · 09/03/2013 18:35

What a nobber. Unfortunately I come over really passive aggressive with people like him, so would probably have made some sarky comment. And got myself into trouble.

I would have used my extra queuing time to imagine small mishaps occurring to him. You know, his car getting blocked in, or the machine eating his card ... then would have got on with my day safe in the knowledge he's a total twat, and I'm not. Mostly.

EuroShaggleton · 09/03/2013 18:38

Total nob.

VivaLeBeaver · 09/03/2013 18:54

There were other people around so its unlikely he'd have punched me but its probably not worth getting into an argument for. But rude, pushing in people do annoy me no end. Shopping on a Saturday is never the best experience.

I was in a rope queuing system once, A cashier became available, and before I had a chance to move the man behind me had got hold of my elbows and pushed me towards the cashier.

SauvignonBlanche · 09/03/2013 18:59

A man just pushed in front of me attgecself service till queue at Tesco. They're all out tonight!

VivaLeBeaver · 09/03/2013 19:02

Sparklingbrook, that's terrible. When did people get so impatient? They never used to be.

I have a theory it's modern society having everything on demand, fast food, you can download a film, download a book, instant answers to stuff on the Internet. People just don't expect to wait for anything now.

At work patients are demanding to be discharged the minute they decide they want to go home. Try explaining that I have eight other patients, one of whom is poorly, three need drugs and one needs help with breastfeeding so the discharge will have to wait a short while till I can do it and its often nastiness, tutting, sighing, threats, etc. And if they have to wait for medication to come from pharmacy people can literally come to the desk every ten minutes asking if their drugs are here yet. And seem amazed when I say it might take three hours.

My mum says when she had a baby she wouldn't even have dared ask when she could go. You stayed until you were told otherwise. Grin

I was at the Doctors on Friday. People were up and down to the desk asking how much longer/were they next etc. Hmm

You don't actually work in a prison though, do you, vivalebeaver? cos I'd not take very well to being told I couldn't leave anywhere either, unless it was a prison or police cell.

Now pushing in, that's another matter. He was v rude :(

VivaLeBeaver · 09/03/2013 22:02

Mercibucket, I don't tell people they can't leave. I tell people I can't discharge them immediately - which is a difference. They can always leave without been discharged, without seeing a dr, without meds, etc. I frequently tell people it's not a prison and they can walk out the door whenever they want. Grin

Funnily enough few take me up on that.
