Cockyfox - I hope not! I think I would be able to smell it, I hope I would be able to smell it. Lots of her friends smoke, apparently it keeps their weight down and they all seem to use rolling tobacco as it's the cheapest

YANBU. It's also the most lethal way to smoke as there is no filter.

dolallymum · 08/03/2013 16:39

YANBU your house, your rules.

GrowSomeCress · 08/03/2013 16:44

HillBilly76 I wonder this too, I'm still fairly young and here it's always been seen as a really loserish, sad thing to take up!

TheCatIsUpTheDuff · 08/03/2013 22:09

Chocovore - most people now put filters in their roll-ups.

CockyFox - I lived in a nice area and went to a nice (state but church) school. Most of my friends smoked roll-ups, and not all of them smoked pot.

OP, YADNBU!

YANBU
we barred smoking in our house the day DD was born.
WE are still the party house but smoking is either in the garden, the greenhouse or (in bitterly cold weather) the conservatory
but I will not tolerate cigarettes in the house
and when my kids are that age they will stick to the same rule

BertieBotts · 08/03/2013 22:13

What? I used to smoke rollies as a teen (I was older than 16 though) because it's cheaper and I never smoked weed Hmm Never heard of anyone making a roll up without a filter, either.

Hulababy · 08/03/2013 22:17

YANBU.

We have never allowed smoking in our house. Never will. From anyone.

Poppet48 · 08/03/2013 22:18

YANBU.

Not under any circumstance would I allow smoking in my home.

rockinhippy · 08/03/2013 22:20

Your house, your rules, no YADNBU & you are also being a damn site better parent than some we know in RL who think they are being cool letting there 13yr & her friends & boyfriends smoke at home - "because she'll do it anyway, so she might as well do it here" Shock

LeoandBoosmum · 08/03/2013 22:23

Not unreasonable! I would be so pissed off if my daughter was smoking, especially at that age. Sorry if I sound judgmental but in your shoes - I'm assuming at her age she doesn't work - I definitely wouldn't be helping her to fund a disgusting habit that can only harm her.

rockinhippy · 08/03/2013 22:24

PS, we are another household that banned smoking the day DD was born, NO ONE smokes here, not even DHs chain smoking 78 yer old Mum' she complains, but tough - we've a yard for that Grin

oldraver · 08/03/2013 22:29

I wouldn't have smoking anywhere near the house preferably at the bottom of the garden with a smoking coat/fleece..smokers dont realise how the smell lingers and they bring it into the house

I wouldn't confiscate tobacco, to me that's her choice, I would make sure I wasnt paying for it

Sallyingforth · 08/03/2013 22:34

they all seem to use rolling tobacco as it's the cheapest
According to a BBC report a few days ago, a very high percentage of rolling tobacco is fake: much more than for cigarettes. The fake stuff contains a mixture of substances, some of them very toxic.
