Its dress up day for World Book day, and my DD has gone in, in uniform, it never even occurred to me to dress her up.

Our school's, most confusingly, was last Friday. DD1 (aged 9) decided what she wanted to wear and then went through all her books until she found a character that fitted the bill! She went as Lottie from The Lottie Project by Jacqueline Wilson. I was very impressed with her ingeniousness, especially as most of her friends were dressed up as characters from the well known BOOK 'Monster High'

DD2 (aged 6) went as Belle from Beauty and The Beast and took in her sister's beautiful Robert Sabuda copy of the book.

He'll go far, DialsMavis. Ingenious!

Well my grandsons had to take in something made from recycled materials today-a different theme for each class so dgs1's was plants and dgs2's was creatures!
When their dad dropped them off he said it looked like an A Level Art show!
Some very competetive parenting going on I'm afraid.

Don't feel that bad - DD had been talking about it a few weeks ago (just asking, and considering options) and they have been talking about it in class this week so she said it to me. But the only contact from school about it came at 3.3.0pm yesterday - I work FT and we have swimming lessons after creche on Wed (so very late home) then home to eat at bedtime and go straight up later than other nights. If I hadn't already had the warning, she'd have had nothing.

And I'd definintely agree re Naughtiest Girl - DD is in non-uniform school and we had to go out and buy a uniform for Naughtiest Girl outfit (well, 2 pack of shirts and a skirt, and a regular navy cardi that she has, in fairness, worn a lot since). And as she's ADHD/Aspergers, so constantly in trouble anyway (and not unknown in Headmistress's office ), the HM has come over to tell us a couple of times since how much they all laughed (in true enjoyment at the irony) at her .

(As it happens, DD is Happry Potter in Quidditch uniform today - own red top, own buff trousers, own shingaurds over trousers (ankle protections ones) and lower arms (the non-ankle protecting (i.e. original "we know nothing") pair), a length of yellow ribbon was hastily stitched onto red top this morning (I realised my plan of safety pins wasn't great idea), pair of glasses made from card, scar made from face paint (we got a set recently, but eyeliner would have worked), borrow broomstick from neighbour (Halloween prop), and the only thing properly poncy was me taking leftover red curtain material and sewing a cape (with arms but completely open front and no ties- so relatively straightforward). If I'd only found out yesterday, she'd probably be "Horrid Henry or a footballer!!)
