For goodness sake, she isn't the first person ever to have a baby! Why does anyone even care if it's a girl or a boy?!

So said my staunchly republican 7yo dd earlier this evening while watching Kate on the news. Grin

AIBU to think that she has a point?!

Perhaps we just like something nice to look forward to?

One day she will be on a stamp?

Broadly speaking people quite like the royals

We don't live in a republic

The constitutional change that this has catalysed.

Many reasons to be interested regardless of political views.

AngryBeaver Grin THIS:

I don't even think she was talking about her giving the teddy to her child.

I think she was going to say "I'll give this to my DOG" but then though, oh shit, one can't say that out loud!

TheFallenNinja Grin and thrice more grin at this:

Perhaps we just like something nice to look forward to?
One day she will be on a stamp?

I'm sure with all the other (v v accurate) obs. you made, you may not have intended the above to be so funny. But it really, really, isGrin

Are we possibly overanalysing something said by a 7 year old?

Yes indeed, Chairman, it was supposed to be a light-hearted thread! Grin

I should have pointed out that the baby will one day have its face on a stamp. DD might have been more impressed! Wink

scaevola, I'm sorry if there have been multiple threads, I haven't seen them. And I didn't even know there was a royal topic! Shock

livid thank you, that's a lovely slant on dd's opinionated nature strong views. I love the fact that she has her own opinions on stuff, but I do realise that I'm somewhat biased! :)

Independent-minded, questioning and capable of expressing an opinion - brilliant qualities in anyone.

This ^

When you're pg that is the question you hear all along so it's normal to be curious.

And with the rules changing if it is a girl then she would be making royal history.
