AIBU to refuse to accept ebay return?

Not sure what to do, I sold a second hand tablet on ebay, full working order but it has a resistive screen which is nowhere near as good as a capacitive screen. Buyer bought it for £38 and is complaining it is faulty. All I had done since it was working properly was restore factory settings to erase our personal stuff. I did find info online that said the resistive screens could get unsettled when travelling through post and need re-calibrating so I forwarded the info to buyer. She is now saying she has taken it to a PC repair shop and he has told her it is faulty and she should send it straight back. My ebay post made it quite clear I don't accept returns. Where do I stand, can I dispute her claim that it's faulty, it certainly wasn't when it left here, annoyingly slow to respond when you are used to iPads or other capacitive screens but definitely working. If I have to refund her can I deduct the ebay fees I have had to pay?

I've had good / bad experiences of being both a seller and a buyer. As a buyer I would never ask to return an item I didn't like. I consider it part of the risk of buying online. But I did once ask to return an item of clothing that hadn't been washed and I got a load of abuse for my troubles.

Also - what has the person in the pc repair shop done? Have they tried to tamper - feel sorry for you as think in the long run you'll be better just accepting the return than all the hassle of fighting it.

I don't think reallytired meant you send a lot of shit she means that even if you go through eBay policy the buyer can return a pack of shit for the same weight and eBay will make you refund her.

This happened to my friend, she sent an item for a certain weight and when the buyer wanted to return it she was sent the box back with a load of random crap in it for the same weight, eBay ruled in favour of the buyer as they had receipt proof that weight was same, she then had to refund the item to buyer even though she never received it back.

Ebay can be shit both ways my dp does lots of buying and selling. He bought some trousers a few weeks ago very cheap. They never arrived. He chased seller no response. Next thing seller has left feedback - received trousers back from buyer as return disgraceful condition no refund. This is now on his near perfect 1500 feedback! Seems the seller didn't get what he wanted for them.
Then this week he sold something and we had to get the police to get rid of buyer as he was refusing to pay and being very threatening.
Not worth the hassle in my book!

MeDented, don't give it to a charity shop. Re-list is as spares/repairs. Iv done this with old faulty cameras etc with a 99p starting price and the still sell.

Jjuice, ask ebay to remove the feedback - it's not allowed for a seller to leave a negative comment even on a positive feedback for a buyer.

They should get rid of it.

OP if she's had it repaired by someone, or taken apart etc then she is deemed to have accepted it and can't return it - well that's how the law works, I think, but ebay might be another matter.
