To think buses should do child day tickets?

We were visiting family in the midlands and my OH took one of our kids on the bus to town just for a treat as he loves buses.

He got an adult day ticket but had to buy 2 singles as they don't do child day tickets which made it nearly as much as an adult ticket!

I wrote an email and asked why they don't do child day tickets. Weeks later I get a phone call and the reason they've given the complaints department is the rising cost of fuel etc!

I said they could still do day tickets if they wanted as what the difference doing it for adults?

I told her that our first buses do a £2 day ticket for children so why couldn't they.

She just said errr that's the reason they've given us!

I was nice about it and wasn't rude, just said I think it's expensive. I have posted on their twitter and fb page asking the same question.

I don't expect anything from them, I'm just annoyed!

I expect to be told I am unreasonable but I'm just feeling that way out this week! I can't even blame pmt

Just wondering if it is a great selling point to offer reduced fares between those ages for unaccompanied children!

I'm in the West Mids, near Dudley and we have a kids All Day Ticket for £2.70.

I can't remember how much, possible two pounds, but Warrington definitely had child day passes.
I do wonder though why children get reductions? they take up the same seat space as an adult

Has anyone ever seen a child between the ages of 5 and 10 travelling alone on the tube?

Not recently, but my friend told me a story about how when he was 7 (nearly 40 now so was some time ago) he was invited to a friend's to play. His mum assumed there would be some supervision. Dropped him off at friend's house in Hampstead. The mum was out and the nanny gave them £10 and told them to take themselves to the London Dungeons for the day on the tube, which they did Shock Apparently no-one was at all surprised to see a pair of 7 year olds navigating the tube system alone, or going to the LD on their own.

My sisters children all used the tube. Alone. From the age of 9-11 getting to their junior school.

I think public transport in the UK is a joke. You keep being told to use it, but ffs, it's cheaper to bloody drive!
