...to sit in my car eating sandwiches instead of going home?

I've taken DD1 to her friends bday party. She's in reception so and a funny age in terms of whether parents should stay or go and leave their children. I know the mum hosting the party out of school too, so I'm not worried about leaving DD there with her friends.

DH is at home with DD2 (aged 3) and DD3 (aged 6 months), and his sister, BIL and their high maintenance 1.5yo. It's madness at home.

DH and I both expected that I would be sat at the party till it finishes at 6. But now all the kids are playing sans parents, I am free to go home. But I want to just in my car in peace, eat and MN for the next hour, and DH will be non the wiser. Grin

Unfortunately the only shops nearby are an asda and a matalan. Treated myself to some cheap crappy jewellery from there. Grin

LadyPessaryPam · 01/03/2013 17:02

SoleSource · 01/03/2013 17:03

What kind of sandwich fillings do you have?

usualsuspect · 01/03/2013 17:04

Asda has a cafe.

They sell nice cakes in the Asda cafe.

Rowlers · 01/03/2013 17:34

Relax, enjoy! Those moments are few and far between when you have littlies.

redandyellowbits · 01/03/2013 18:45

Back home now. I strolled around Asda and mooched in the car. Then popped into party for the last half hour as other mums were arriving to pick up kids.

Got home and DD2 & 3 were fed, and dinner ready for me too.

Lovely break, I must sneak out alone more often.

Ooh good for you.

I'd had one of those days last week and had 2 mtgs in the evening. After the last meeting at 9.30pm, I went to the supermarket, bought something to eat and sat in the car reading my kindle and eating before I came home to deal with the household again.

It was lovely.

redandyellowbits · 01/03/2013 19:29

Isn't it sad that sitting in the car alone makes us so happy!

k2togm1 · 01/03/2013 19:36

Nothing wrong with being alone! If its a break from busyness I absolutely love to be on my own, glad you enjoyed it!

Aika · 01/03/2013 19:37

you sound like someone who needs more me-time. You must NOT feel guilty and you must do this more often!

nokidshere · 01/03/2013 20:39

Haha

When my children were small I always offered to go out to get stuff or do party runs etc and then would sit in the car with the radio on for half an hour before going home - pure bliss!

I had that on Sunday. Pure bliss - an hour alone with no demands.
