This keeps happening to me, I get lured in and offer some great overdone, unoriginal, silly suggestions. The thread runs its course and the OP says thanks and they will probably use one of the lovely names suggested.

I want to know which one! did I win?!

Am I the only absurdly competitive namer? well AIBU?

Just talking about that with dh earlier apparently Alfred[Aelfred] means 'counselled by elves' what a great name :)

Well, when DS was born I went back to the thread and shared his name (just his first names, not the whole thing).

A day later, MIL told DH she had found out who I was on MN because she'd searched for the names and the thread was the top hit on Google Shock. The names weren't really unusual, but they weren't top 100 names so as it was a recent post Google naturally thought the page belonged near the top of search results. It was obvious it was me due to the timings etc.

I guess at least she was kind enough to tell DH, but it did mean I had to a) give up my former identity where I'd made quite a few "connections" as it were and b) realise that my MIL could potentially read about some of the TMI things I'd posted..

I'm quite sure I wouldn't be the only person this has happened to, it's just I was lucky enough to have a thoughtful MIL, so if someone does go back and name your baby one of the names, disguise it somehow - put numbers instead of letters somewhere or something!!

Interestingly a search for his first two names now doesn't show the thread in even the first 100 results!

Oh goodness maybe I have outed myself, only 6 babies in the UK were called my baby's name last year, ooops, oh well I don't think anyone is interested enough to google ds's name.
